Money and Trade of Altoria

----- In Altoria, the coins most frequently used by the common people are the copper ren and the silver falcon. The copper ren is a small round coin with a small bird inscribed on one side and the other has a maple leaf. The silver falcon is a slightly larger coin with a falcon inscribed on one side and a shield on the other.
-----Altoria also mints a gold crown coin, which is about double the size of a ren, with a crown inscribe on one side and an eagle on the other. The gold crown is seldom found in common use and mostly exists in the form of a "paper crown".
-----Electrum and platinum coins are rarely circulated and are usually found in the treasury vaults of kings and queens or in long forgotten treasures. Altorian coins of this sort take the form of the electrum horn and the platinum royal. The electrum horn is an oval shaped coin a little smaller than the gold crown and its two sides are inscribed with images of a unicorn and crossed swords. The platinum royal is a round coin larger than a gold crown with a ridged edge. Its two sides bear the images of a lion and His Majesty, the King Avaross.

-----The economy of Altoria is maintained by a combination of coins, goods, and services. Altoria produces many goods that can be used as exports to other places. Exports are usually shipped to Vigilance and sold in the markets there. Altoria produces mainly farm products. These include fruits, cotton, livestock, vegetables, grains, tobacco, grapes, and wine. Altoria also has a few mines that produce granite, limestone, marble, clay, and gemstones.
-----In an indirect fashion, Altoria receives some imports from other places. Fish and ships are bought from Zanyr. From the Vestian Isles, fine horses, olives, and wool are received. Goria provides a lot of valuable minerals such as gold, silver, copper, and iron ore. Finally, spices, silk, and tea are received from faraway Xiling.

-----The two types of transportation important to Altoria's trading system are by river and by overland roads and trails. The Altor River runs almost centrally through the kingdom connecting most of the estates with each other and providing a route to the sea. This also provides an important passage to the city of Vigilance. Unpaved roads connect most of the major towns in the kingdom with the capitol, Goldren. In turn, some of the small villages are linked to the towns by the roads or smaller trails.
