-----"No, we're not ready to leave yet." Sarah snaps at Raven. To Sarius she says, "The last time we encountered a dark crystal the only way we could destroy it was through the radius of a scroll that protected from magic. I don't know enough about magic to dispel magic on my own yet, so we'll be needing more of those scrolls if you really want us to destroy those crystals. I have one, and Thalog had another, but he left us after our last adventure. One won't be enough, milord." Sarah scowls at Gimplefwick and Kazel out of the corner of her eyes as she finishes her announcement, clearly Sarah didn't buy a word of what she said. 'Greedy, that’s all they are.' she thinks to herself.
-----Kazel makes a face back at Sarah, daring her to say some more. Returning her gaze to the Lord Chamberlain, she then seems to think for a moment before answering. "Lord Sarius, if it's for the town of Hearthorn, I'd gladly accept the mission. But for this I only have one special request. You see, on the farthest southwestern block on the west side, there at the end where the streets meet, there are several abandoned houses where they've been standing for years. You can tell, as one of them is burned out from the inside. And I'd like to request the town authorities to pull them down. Even if they build nothing on top of the rubble." She looks down at the floor as she tries to choose her words. "It'd... mean a lot to me. And it can't hurt the neighbourhood, either."
-----She then looks up to see the Lord Chamberlain's reaction. "That's all I ask."
-----Sol returns Raven's smile and softly replies, "Sure." He looks back at the group after a moment of consideration, "I'm guessin' that we're going to be spending a fair bit o' time together. And I guess I got off on the wrong foot right from the start." Looking at Kazel and Gimplefwick in particular, he continues, "Fer that I'm sorry."
-----He glances over at the musician and adds, "Seth, if you'd like I can show yer way around a horse. If a horse is your preferred steed...?" He finishes with a grin.
-----Seth nods at Sol in reply to his generous offer, "That would be most helpful Sol. Where I grew up we did not travel much and if we did we went on foot. In fact I was not sure what a steed was but thought it might have something to do with a horse. Do you think I can play my harp while riding a horse? I was able to do that in the wagon!"
-----Kazel spins around at Sol's words. Walking up to him, she looks up at the warrior towering over her with a look of complete defiance on her face. "That's where you're completely wrong, Sol Herron." She lets the word sink in, before suddenly punching the man in the arm, as if to wake him up. "You've got nothing to be sorry about and you know it," she says as she breaks into a wide grin. Hesitating a bit, she continues, "In fact, um... I'll appreciate a lot if you'll show me a bit about horse riding, too."
-----Her expression turns into a somewhat comical mix of sheepishness and pride. "Not everyone can afford them, you know."
-----Sol's eyes widen and words try unsuccessfully to make their way out. He shakes his head, and grins weakly. "I'll be happy to teach any to ride. Um, Seth? You may need a little practice 'fore you can harp and ride, but I'll have you a Calvary officer in no time." His eyes flick back to Kazel and Sol's smile widens as he rhetorically murmurs, "Are you going to swat me every time you disagree with me?" Finally he looks at the Dread Pirate and asks, "How 'bout yerself, Gimplefwick? Need to catch up yer ridin' skills? Geez...the name's a bit of a mouthful, what about Gi.....Hrm." Clears his throat, "Maybe not."
-----Gimplefwick grins at the large warrior, "Aye, I could use a bit o' help in learnin how to ride. Ye don't see too many horses on the deck of a ship. Never got the chance to learn. And as fer bein sorry, I agree with Kazel, ye got nothin to be sorry about."
-----Raven stops and turns toward Sarah, "I said that I and Rinda were ready to go. I wasn't speaking for you. Damn Sarah! Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today or what? By the way, good question." Raven pauses to see how Sarius responds to Sarah's question.
-----Raven looks over and smiles a little when he sees everyone around Sol asking for riding lessons. "Hey Sol! Why don't you charge 'em for your lessons? After all you have to put food on your table and keep a roof over your head too." Raven says in a joking tone.
-----Gimplefwick nods at Sarah's request for help, "Aye, I don't know anythin about these dark crystals or what it takes to destroy 'em, but I can give ye a short list of what I'll be needin as far as supplies go."
-----Gimplefwick hurriedly scribbles on a piece of parchment and then hands it to the Chamberlain, "That should take care of me for supplies. Anythin else I can scrounge up as we go."
-----"Mistress Sarah," The Lord Chamberlain replies politely, "my office has no authority over items of magic. That is the domain of the Lord Wizard. Perhaps you could confer with him on this matter. I am sure his assistance would be beneficial."
