-----Sol watches the hunter enact his arachnid antics with a grin on his face. He glances at Sarah, fully intending to show his appreciation of magic to her, but stops suddenly. The Gorian stares at her briefly, and then a look of mild shock plays itself on his features and he mouths a questioning word at Sarah. To someone who can see quite well at night, it would appear to be the word 'orphan'. His head quickly swivels to look at Raven then back to Sarah and he mouths, "Later." Finally he returns his attention to where it should be; the keep and its latest visitor.
-----A look of shock appears slightly on Sarah's face, and then she clenches her jaw in frustration before shaking her curls to clear her head. "Yeah, later." She mutters, staring at Raven, waiting for him to either drop a rope or the cloak.
-----As everyone watches, Raven quickly disappears behind the castle wall.
-----At the top level of the tower, Raven sees four guardsmen dressed in scale mail. They seem to be conversing lowly and are not paying attention to the direction that Raven is currently located.
-----Hiding in the shadows as much as possible, Raven ties Sarah's cloak to the end of the rope. Every muscle in Raven's body is tense and ready to spring into action if needed.
-----Raven secures the rope over one of the spaces in the battlements. He attaches the cloak onto the rope and begins to lower it, when suddenly; he hears one of the guards' voices shout, "Stop there!" The ranger then flings the rest of the rope over the wall and spins to find himself facing all four guards.
-----One of them turns to call out, "To Arms!" His call is soon answered by others in the courtyard.
-----Of the three other guards, Raven springs forth and takes down one of the men. His short swords flash in the torchlight as his other blade misses another guard.
-----Raven ducks as a morningstar swooshes over his head. The third guard's weapon then lightly scraps Raven's arm drawing an angry red scratch.
-----Raven snarls at the three guards. Raven says in a low growl, "Run while you can. For death has entered this den of evil." With that Raven's blades strike out at the guards. As Raven attacks, he lets out a loud wolf-like howl.
-----Raven slashes in, taking down two of the guards before they can bring their weapons to bear on the hunter.
-----As the men fall before him, Raven catches sight of the excitement growing in the courtyard below. There a middle-aged man armored in chain mail shouts orders to at least a dozen soldiers running toward the stairs that lead up to the catwalk. "Take him down! Prepare to fire over the walls!" the commanding soldier orders.
-----Just then the last guard close to Raven clumsily scratches the hunter's other arm with his morningstar.
-----Raven strikes out at the last guard nearest to him, however, the enemy quickly avoids his sword. At that moment, the ranger becomes aware of a glowing light beside him. There stands Sarah a few feet beside him having just crawled over the wall now wearing the magic cloak. The young mage now sparkles as small motes of starry night swirl around her.
-----The guard swings his morningstar at Raven, which the hunter sidesteps. Raven quickly thrusts his fist straight out hitting the man squarely in the jaw and sending him unconscious to the catwalk.
-----At that moment, Garrison pulls himself over the wall. The woodsman gasps wide-eyed at the approaching troop scattering up the stairs or moving from some of the surrounding towers. "Sarah! Quick, hit them with some . . ."
-----But the woodsman's words are cut short as the Lord Wizard's daughter already has an incantation in progress. The dark mysterious cloak billows and wraps her delicate form as a large sticky mass flows from her fingers launching toward the guards ascending the steps from the courtyard. The huge webbing completely engulf the guards as its mass stretches across the stairs to anchor itself partly on the inside wall and the stone features in the courtyard.
-----The middle-aged commander wearing the chain mail curses as he watches part of his troop incapacitated. From just a few feet from a sticky strand in the courtyard, he begins yelling up to the guards running from the other towers, "There is a witch among them! Stay your positions and fire at them!"
-----Garrison leaps from his position and grabs both Raven and Sarah. He grimaces and emits a gasp as he comes into contact with the starry sphere revolving around the mage. As they hit the surface of the tower, they are somewhat covered by the merlons as at least a half dozen archers to both sides of them kneel and ready their crossbows.
-----Just then something flies out of the dark and roughly flutters around the trio of crossbowmen off to the left. Looking up Raven, Sarah, and Garrison can see it is a hawk beating its wings and scraping with its talons at the men's faces. The guards yell in surprise and pain.
