-----The Dread Pirate rolls over in his blanket and prepares to sleep until his turn at watch.
-----Kazel settles down and begins to polish her weapons to pass the time, until she's sleepy or her turn to watch.
-----When he seems satisfied with his study, Seth plays his harp for a short while before sleeping.
-----The first two shifts for the night watch are uneventful. The slow chirping of crickets coaxes those who are not on duty into a sound sleep. Everyone wraps in their blankets as the air turns cooler.
-----Sometime during the third shift, Brandel quietly rousts the others from their slumbers. In a whispered voice, he tells his employers, "Marast has sighted dark forms moving in the distance."
-----As everyone looks they see the hunched form of the elf facing the east. He silently points off in that direction. Those that can handle seeing in the dark observe a small clump of trees in the distance. Between the position of the faraway trees and the rogues' dark camp, at least two large forms appear to be on the move. From this distance, the forms lumber along and look as though they could be animals, perhaps the size of bears. They don't necessarily appear to acknowledge the camp in any way.
-----One large form looks as though it is dragging something. It drops what it was carrying and the two forms hurriedly head back toward the trees in the distance.
-----The Dread Pirate squints at the figures moving about in the murky night, saying, "Well, it could be a trap, I suppose. How about if I walk out there at a normal pace, til I get close enough to see what it is. If it attacks, I can always run back here. Probably a good bit faster than it. Just be ready for my return. Have yer weapons ready. And yell if ye see anything sneakin up on me."
-----The Dread Pirate begins walking out to the abandoned form, swiveling his head about, keeping an eye out for anything that might be sneaking up on his flanks.
-----Seth locates his new crossbow, and as quietly as possible loads it and then keeps a look out for trouble.
-----Kazel says, "We should be all packed up and ready to go. Those things sure wanted to get out of here in a hurry. Maybe it was a bait for something mean to come into the open."
-----Marast turns and looks at Kazel as she makes her comment. He gazes thoughtfully at her words and slightly nods. He then turns back to watch the investigating Dread Pirate.
-----"Damn," Brandel whispers, "if only I had your kind of vision. I swear I cannot see more than twenty yards away from us."
-----"No matter," Runik grunts, "Marast looks jest as ugly in th' dark as he does in th' daytime."
-----Krord looks down at the dwarf with a confused look. He then smiles as he watches Gimplefwick move out.
-----After a few moments the Dread Pirate rushes back to the camp, saying, "I think we'd best move out. There's a great big, bloody stag carcass out there. It might be placed there to attract various critters to this location. I dunno if werewolves hunt by smell, but that blood is bound to attract something. Better to leave right now and get some more sleep during the day."
-----Dread rushes to lace the saddle on Joren's back and break camp.
-----Kazel is ready to go, and helps anyone who needs to hurriedly pack up and move out.
-----Seth slowly puts down his crossbow and puts his books and things away. He mounts up and asks Krord to hand him his crossbow. He has decided he will try and ride along with his loaded bow in case of trouble.
-----Brandel packs quietly and mounting up tells everyone, "I need someone to ride close to me. It would be my guess that I shall be riding blindly for at least the next hour."
-----With that, everyone starts off with Marast leading the riders toward the south. Amazingly within the next hour, the clouds seem to leave the sky leaving a dull orange gibbous moon hanging over the western horizon. The sky also begins to lighten with the hours of twilight upon them.
