-----Continuing the downward motion, the great club comes down scrapping Raven's shoulder and bicep. Angry redness begins to inflame the scratch there.
-----Sol swings in but the monster turns again, clumsily but effectively avoiding the young warrior.
-----With a mighty grunt, Garrison swings his battleaxe and although he does not connect with the creature, he succeeds in distracting it momentarily. The axe blade catches the fur the ogre wears on its torso and rips it although it misses the flesh underneath.
-----Raven grunts as the club hits him, but Raven ignores the pain and attacks the ogre. Raven, seeing the ogre is distracted, moves in closer to finish the beast.
-----Sol flanks Raven and darts in quickly hoping to ensure that the humanoid remains distracted.
-----Sarah recovers from her initial shock at seeing the monster and raises her hands to send three bolts of magical energy crashing into the ogre. She looks around to see if she can see Marlexana.
-----Raven's blade whirl at the ogre's mid-section. First the ranger slices in but misses on his first jab. With a second slash, Raven tears open the creature's mid-section causing the ogre to roar in pain. A third slice cuts across the monster's chest muscles.
-----Sailing directly over Sol and Garrison's heads, a trio of golden magical streams cuts through the air and hammers into the large humanoid's chest and head. The club immediately falls from its hand and the eyes glaze over. Everyone steps back as the huge thing loses consciousness and teeters on its feet. Suddenly its legs give way and it falls loudly onto its back dead.
-----Rinda runs up directly behind Raven catching the hunter in her arms. She then begins tending to his arm as she excitedly and lovingly tells him, "The mark of the Hunter is on you, Raven! You attack with the fury of the wolf!" Raven's wolf prances around the hunter's ankles yapping for attention. Rinda pauses long enough to grab Raven's face in her hands and plant a long kiss on his lips before working more on his arm.
-----Garrison strides over and lifts his axe high. With a strong intense motion, he brings it down cutting the head off of the dead ogre. "Damn!" he says rising and looking over toward the party, "That was the best fighting that I have seen in a long time!"
-----Turning toward the young mage, he continues, "And you, MiLady, I don't know magic, but I like what your magic does to ogres!"
-----Pleased at the outcome, Sol smiles and resheathes his blade. He then proceeds to round up the scattered horses, one by one.
-----Raven smiles at Rinda, "Thank you, my love." He then turns to Sarah, "And thank you, I didn't want that thing hitting me again."
-----Raven cleans off his blades and then sheathes them. Seeing the wolf, Raven crouches down to give him some attention. Raven then goes to see what the ogre had on him.
-----Sarah beams at the positive support she is getting from rangers near and far. She bows slightly to Garrison and smiles at him. "Stick with us Garrison, and you'll see fighting the likes of which you may have never seen before. Sometime when we have a few spare moments I'll have to tell you about some of our other adventures. You'll never get a good story out of Sol or Raven." She smiles at the two warriors as she says this.
-----"Now it does occur to me that ogres are sometimes pack hunters and sometimes mated couples and the like, or at least that's what certain historians have had to say about them." Sarah shrugs knowing that all her knowledge of the world comes from old books that might be meaningless now. "So maybe we should keep an eye out for an angry son or wife or the like."
-----She smiles as Marlexana comes trotting out of the woods towards her. "There you are honey, I was getting worried." Sarah walks over to her wonderful horse and kisses it on the nose. "So what do we now? Stay here or go back to the wagon?"
-----Sol chuckles at Sarah's question as he continues his round up. "Well, it looks like th' wagon was used fer something other than it's original purpose. Effective though, an I'd say that yer angry ogre's son or wife is th' one lying beneath it."
-----Sol's smile fades as he considers the group's next move. "I'd say we're done here. We could rest here fer th' night but I'd rather not. It may provide shelter, but it seems t'be th' local attraction...more importantly there's still some light left. We could still put a few miles o' riding in a'fore sunset."
-----Once the horses have been herded back to the party, Sol mounts up on Thunder and waits for Raven to show the way once more. Waiting for this brings up one thought which the warrior voices to Garrison in a mock serious tone, "Never tell good stories indeed. Hah, I could tell ye some fer sure. Our old group once entered an abandoned village..." Sol then proceeds to relay an unembellished story of how Raven tore the majority of a pack of bone men apart, the given account being described pretty much blow for blow.
