-----Sol frowns and rubs the back of his head with his left hand, "I don't know the device...I've ne'er seen it." He looks over at Raven and adds, "There is still one door to check. Maybe we'll find more clues through here. I guess we should fully check this room out now, considerin' th' find." Sol then bends down and examines the body more closely.
-----Seth eyes the sword, "Sol, maybe you should examine that sword, see if it is nice looking."
-----Sol doesn't verbally answer Seth, giving the bard a glance before returning his attention to the body. After a short examination, Sol looks up at the ceiling and advises, "All right, if there's nothin' else here fer us t'find, we should leave th' room now. I don't like th' look o' this ceiling, and I'm inclined t'believe this man met his fate at a piece o' fallin' debris, poor sod."
-----He looks about to rise, then reconsiders and bends back down. Sol reaches over to pick up the sheathed long sword. He pulls the blade free of its scabbard and critically regards the make.
-----"We should search the body." Sarah says, not sounding very enthusiastic. "Maybe we can figure out who he is or why he was here."
-----"Dread, would you like the honor?" She asks the halfling hopefully.
-----"I didn't see anything else," Sol adds, still studying the sword.
-----Raven looks up and says, "Dread could check the body for clues, before the rest of the roof caves-in on us?" Raven moves forward and examines the area for tracks.
-----The Dread Pirate hunches over the body, carefully examining the deceased's clothing and possessions, "Arrr, the emblemic device upon his shield indicates that he was of the order of the Crimson Brotherhood of Northern Altoria. They be well known fer wearin suchlike leather armor and helmets. His surcoat shows his rank as bein one o' their knight errants. They often go out questin by themselves, killin all sorts o' evil critters and whatnot. Since he doesn't ave anythin else on him, that’s about all I can tell."
-----Sarah stares at the man’s body for a few seconds before shaking her head sadly. "Poor guy." But she is thinking...what could he be doing here?
-----Sol says to Seth indicating the sword, "It seems t'be a common enough make. Serviceable." He then stands and walks out of the room, leaving the blade next to the fallen warrior.
-----Seth follows him with the torch and they lead everyone back down the darkened corridor. As they pass the hole in the floor, they pause as the sound of squeaks seems to come up from there. It quickly dies down and the adventurers continue on. They turn to the left with the passage and within a few feet they emerge into the room where the rats were burnt.
-----Sol strides up to the last door in the room. He moves silently as if silenced somewhat by his ordeal and injury by the spiders. He looks around at the others as he lays his hand on the door handle. As everyone readies, the young warrior pulls the door open revealing what is beyond.
-----This time, the torchlight shows a small room. It is empty except for the small loose stones on the floor from the aging walls and ceiling.
-----Raven looks over at Dread, "You want to check it out for traps and such?"
-----Sol steps out of the way, so that any who wish to check out the room can get past. His pensive mood still apparent, Sol addresses Raven, "Looks like the end o' th' line. While Dread and Seth check this last room out, maybe we should ready the bodies fer transport back to their homes."
-----He then wipes his Lathanian sword clean on his now very grubby surcoat, since it was still coated in the blood of the large spider like creatures, and slides it back into its sheath.
-----"Has anyone got a spare piece of...clean...cloth?" Sol asks.
-----Seth moves to help Dread check out the room for traps, as well as secret compartments and doors. He cringes as Sol asks for a clean cloth to clean blood off his sword.
-----Seeing Seth cringe, Sol adds, "The cloth is to wrap up the bones of the children, Seth. It has to be done, and is somewhat more respectful than dumping them in my backpack."
-----Raven and Sol retrieve the blanket that had been found when the party first entered this underground dungeon. As Seth and the Dread Pirate check out the small room, Sol and Raven leave to gather the remains of the dead. Kazel stands guard quietly while Sarah waits, standing clear of any trace of dead rats.
-----After a few minutes, Raven and Sol return, carrying the bundled blanket between them. It is a solemn moment as everyone realizes what the blanket contains.
-----Seth stops and watches Raven and Sol bring out the blanket and its contents. Seth looks at everyone and asks, "If you think it fitting, I will play a tune on my harp that my mother's people play at the passing of One on to the next journey."
