-----Sol continues forward, still leading Thunder. In another situation, it may've been prudent to leave someone behind with the horses, but the Gorian had no intention of leaving anyone behind on a night like this.
-----Sarah moves in between Sol and Raven and speaks lowly, "About ten undead...they're....eating something big. They haven't seen us yet. I could blast them all from here. Should I?"
-----"Ten undead?" Sol's eyes flare in disgust and he nods fiercely to Sarah, "Hit them hard, love. Raven, Lovan, Rinda an' I will mop up what's left." Sol draws his longsword and prepares to follow the resulting magical effects.
-----Raven nods, "Blast 'em back to hell." Raven readies his bow and has an arrow ready to fire.
-----"Light the torches!" Garrison says to Lovan as he pulls the storm priest away from the horses. They position themselves on each side of the trail.
-----The Lord Wizard's daughter steps forth on the trail and delicately points her finger into the darkness ahead. As everyone watches and listens, her beautiful voice strongly intones mystic words. It proves to be a strange contrast to the horrific noises beyond.
-----Suddenly a small point of reddish light appears at Sarah's fingertip. It streaks forth lightly illuminating the trunks that it passes. It quickly gains a range some twenty-five yards from the party where the shadowy forms of human-like creatures are silhouetted. For a moment, the red point seems to hang there before it delivers its hellish effect.
-----In the past few days, the other adventurers had become very acquainted with this spell and now some in the party brace themselves and place their hands over their ears. The scene before them erupts into a great blossoming explosion of yellow and orange fire that engulfs the creatures and blasts parts of undead tissue and tree bark from its center.
-----Within a few seconds, the biggest part of the explosion is over and a heavy smoke hangs on the air and slowly drifts upward. By this time, Garrison and Lovan have their torches lit while up ahead the point of impact is lit by burning shapes on the ground and a few scorched and flaming plants and trunks.
-----All appears still in the dying flames but soon movement is detected. There from the smoldering scene arises a trio of human-like forms. Facing the direction of the adventurers, the forms begin running toward them. As they get closer to the torchlight, it is apparent these forms are abominations of living humans; their forms now twisted into something very deadly. They race forward with a crazed, inhuman look in their eyes while long tongue lop out of their razor-teethed mouths.
-----"Same as I said before." Sol calls before raising his sword and dropping Thunder's reins. With long powerful strides, he begins to return the charge back at the hideous forms. At first the adventurer's eyes flashed with alarm at the creatures, but are quickly replaced by repulsion and anger. When he meets the rushing trio, his voice rings out clearly, "Suffer th' storm!"
-----Two arrows quickly leave Raven's bow. The first shot barely misses the creature rushing directly at him. His second shot, however, imbeds itself in the undead thing's leg causing it to stumble. Somehow the missile has hit something unseen and vital to the once human form's ability to stand. The creature leers up at the hunter with a murderous rage in its eyes as it continues to crawl forward to him.
-----The Lathanian sword in the Gorian's hand swings across ripping the flesh from one of his attackers' chest. The blow slows the creature causing it to step back but does not defeat it.
-----Suddenly Sol is besieged by the other creature, which quickly tries to tear at the young warrior with its clawed hands and sharp teeth. Very quickly the other creature steps back in and tries to deliver an attack of its own, but Sol avoids all of the attacks.
-----Regathering his balance, Sol slices into the creature, which has yet to be marked by the adventurers save for the scorched flesh it features because of Sarah's spell. The sword bites deeply into its abdomen surely exposing its tip through the back of the monster. Sol throws it off his sword and though the creature is greatly slowed it rises to attack again.
-----Sol steps aside as the first creature tries to leap and deliver a bite. The monster whirls toward him angrily as it misses.
-----Sol steps once to his side and delivers a rising backhanded swing of the Lathanian sword that looks almost negligent. This first blow is aimed at the more sorely damaged of the two fanged undead. With a flick of the wrist, the blade is twisted and delivered in an over-handed chop at the second.
