-----Lovan bats away an orc's sword and the pain of his clumsy maneuver still registers on the priest's face.
-----Romney parries a thrust and quickly stabs his opponent in the gut before backing to see his opponent's condition. The orc advances on him once more and Romney swings at him. The attack comes half-heartedly missing the humanoid as Romney turns to catch a glimpse of Mirian.
-----Romney's sword clangs against the orc's weapon as the humanoid parries him. In turn, the guard deflects a thrust the orc rebounds with.
-----Beside them, Lovan's orc tries to slice into the priest only to have its movement stopped by the warhammer.
-----Meanwhile the ogre's club slams into Raven sending him back a few steps. As blood begins to gather on his arm, the hunter quickly gains his balance and rushes to keep the monster away from the petrified lion.
-----At about the same time, the other ogre's club smashes into Garrison's torso sending the woodsman back a few feet where he lands roughly onto his back. Garrison quickly rises but he is obviously badly hurt!
-----A shattering sound is heard as Sol breaks the mirror behind him with his sword. He quickly sees that there are two other mirrors (one on each side of him) on the same wall.
-----Raven jumps at his ogrish opponent and cuts the air in front of the monster with one sword. It does not make contact but it forces the ogre back a step.
-----By this time, Sarah has rushed over to Mirian's side. Kneeling, she cradles the dancer in his arms. Suddenly, she gasps out, "DESTINE! NO!" Looking up at the young warrior, she says with frightened huge eyes, "Sol, she's not breathing!" Mirian's body is covered with blood and open wounds.
-----Raven braces himself and crouches low. In one smooth movement, he springs up almost into the ogre's waiting arms. The Hunter's twin swords thrust up under the monster's chin slicing into the flesh very cleanly. The ogre makes one weak convulsion and then collapses to the floor dead. As Raven lands, he likewise collapses, though one hand is seen to rest on the still form of the lion.
-----"DIE! DAMN YOU!" Lovan yells as he finally slams his hammer into the orc's face. The humanoid's body slumps and falls with blood gushing from its nose. It lies still on the stone floor after a few twitches.
-----Suddenly, there is another burst of light from the opposite balcony. It quickly shines across striking a mirror to Sol's left directing the beam toward the doors again. For a moment, Sol focuses on Sarah's tear streaked face and then . . .
-----Sarah lays flat on her back. The beam shines over her and Mirian. By the time, it stops shining, Sarah carefully pushes Mirian back so she can lay out on the floor. The mage then rises, an angry expression filling her eyes. She nods once showing Sol that she is all right.
-----Romney's sword rings once more as his foe continues to fight him.
-----Garrison throws himself at the ogre swinging his weapon heavily. The blade first carves through a leg muscle forcing the monster to its knees. The woodsman then jumps up on one of its lowered legs, drawing a cry of pain from the ogre. Grasping his weapon in both hands, Garrison chomps at the great neck opening a wide bloody gash there. Spilling and splattering blood around it, the ogre then falls dead to the floor.
-----Now the only battle that remains is between Romney and an injured but determined looking orcish warrior.
-----Sarah yells, "Brace yourselves." And glares angrily at the balcony where the killing magic is coming from, chanting an arcane spell she targets the balcony's general area and throws another huge fiery explosion at it, hoping to catch whatever turned her friend to stone in the blast.
-----Lovan hits the last orc with his warhammer knocking its sense and life from it. Romney immediately turns and rushes toward Mirian's limp form.
-----Just then a wide light springs forth from the balcony and though it does not shine and reflect in one of the mirrors, it briefly causes a moment of surprise.
-----The now familiar point of reddish light leaves Sarah's hand and shoots up above the level of the floor toward the balcony. In the next moment, everyone below braces themselves for the hellish impact that is expected. However, just as the point of light touches the projected light, the red spot of Sarah's spell suddenly vanishes!
-----The unnerving quiet that follows is broken only by a low inhuman murmur that rises slowly in volume. The sound of laughter!
-----Sol rushes to break the last two remaining mirrors, determined that this foe will not spell any more of his friends.
-----"Show yourself!" Raven shouts angrily as he throws himself violently to his feet. The hunter firmly grasps his swords in his arms and swings around to face the darkened balcony overhead. Raven then looks around to each wall for evidence of a stairway up to the next level.
