-----Seth goes vague for a while as he looks ahead at where Albert is flying from tree to tree.
-----"Everyone, Stop!" Seth commands in a loud crowd stopping voice as he pulls the El Binko up to a halt. He continues on his warning in a more normal voice. "There are many dead things on the ground ahead. I suggest it is probably just dead animals, but with so many in one place it may be Undead. Perchance one of our mighty hunters may wish to investigate."
-----Sol peers at the trees and the deadfall. He slowly dismounts, and as his sword slides free of its scabbard, Sol utters, "Ok, wolf. I'm really hopin' that's a fat juicy rabbit ye've found. What's that smell?" He asks no one in particular. He begins to carefully tread towards where the wolf faces.
-----Raven leans his head back and sniffs the air. Raven says to Sol, "I've never smelled anything like it before." Raven gets off his horse and readies his bow. Raven moves beside the wolf, crouches down to the level of the wolf's eyes and scans the area where the wolf is looking.
-----Sarah sniffs the air at the coppery scent. "What could that be?" She asks out loud. "I guess we'll find out soon enough." Sarah puts Marlexana in the middle of the group, behind Sol but in front of Gimplefwick. She watches Albert curiously while the crow flaps around. 'Wonder if him and Chessie would get along...' Sarah thinks.
-----Kazel lightly hops down onto the ground and stays close to Raven and Sol. But she also looks and listens all around, and up at the trees, for any signs of life as they advance.
-----"Bloody undead," Sol curses, "If yer right Seth, then we'll need to get this done with." Sol begins moving towards the ground ahead, his grip on the hilt of his Lathanian blade tight.
-----Raven nods and then moves forward with Sol. Raven looks back to Rinda, "Cover us."
-----"Shiver me timbers!" The Dread Pirate exclaims as he swings one leg over and dismounts his pony. He watches as Sol walks forward. "Ye figures ye just be marchin’ right into it, do ye, ya lanky-legged landlubber?!"
-----Suddenly brandishing his cutlass, he swings it over his head. The weapon cuts through the air with short swoops.
-----"Mayhaps ye gives me time ta sneak ‘round so if’n ye gets yerself ambushed, I gets a good view o’ yer guts spillin’!"
-----Before anyone can protest, the Dread Pirate flashes a devilish smile and with a wink, disappears into the brush skirting the gully.
-----Rinda is already on the ground. Her arm muscles tense as she draws back her bowstring. She quietly nods to Raven as he advances with Kazel and Sol. She flashes a look at Seth and Sarah as if to say, "Be ready for anything."
-----As Sol, Raven and Kazel approach the deadfall, the coppery smell in the air seems to get stronger. It continues to increase until other putrid smells emulate from its unseen source. Undeniably, the odor becomes one of stale blood and something dead.
-----The wolf beside Raven seems to hesitate and it looks at its master as if it fears what lies ahead. As they get to the end of the deadfall, they carefully spread out keeping their senses alert. All around nothing seems to stir save for the light wind and their companions behind them.
-----Edging around the stumps and fallen trunks, the three adventurers suddenly see a prone body lying still among the deaden branches. The tragedy of the dead body is in its unearthly beauty. The body that lies before them is of an elf. It wears a torn tunic of green with leggings of a light brown color. Though of a lighter frame than a human male, the elven form reflects the strength and grace of its former life. The face with its staring unseeing eyes radiates a savage but noble aura.
-----As they move closer, they see a second body. Not ten feet from the elven corpse is the body of a human woodsman lying facedown. Tattered and bloodied buckskin make up the clothing of the man and a broken axe lies nearby.
-----As they round the deadfall, they now see a full view of what is hidden from the others on the trail. Before them a small incline rises to their right covered with trees with thick trunks. Dotting the small hill are the bodies of about thirty elves and men. It appears a bloody massacre has taken place claiming the lives of both races.
-----Gimplefwick stands quietly in the middle of the battle scene, his cutlass still in his hand but lowered to the ground. Looking up at the three, Gimplefwick slowly shakes his head with a grim look on his face.
-----Sol's sword arm hangs limply to his side, his eyes survey the brutal scene, "Oh hell. Bloody flippin' hell." He whispers harshly as he walks towards Gimplefwick. Now looking at the halfling he adds in a soft voice, "I would've preferred an ambush."
