-----Kazel takes a glance back at the marketplace center, then turns back to Seth and Gimplefwick. "What say we head back to the tavern for now and see if you want to buy Dora May a drink, then Seth?" Kazel says.
-----The three then arrive back at the Two-Door Tavern about mid-afternoon. Gimplefwick waits until the three thieves get back to the inn before opening the purse and checking it's contents. "Well, me fine fellows, we'd best split up the contents of this purse and get rid of the purse itself very soon. It wouldn't do to get caught with it in our possession."
-----Gimplefwick peers into the purse that was passed to him from Kazel, "A good haul of booty it is indeed. Ten gold we have gained from that little heist. I say three for each of us and the extra goes to Kazel for gaining the prize for us." Gimplefwick then suits words to action and splits up the booty.
-----"Now, unless somebody managed to liberate some more gold, we still be needin a bit for Picks. Perhaps we had best go check out that weapons merchant. I had a thought while we were out and about. If yer up for it, we might try our hands at a protection racket. Meaning that we break into the merchant's home and threaten him with bodily harm, then take whatever we want in the way of weapons. We then further threaten him if he thinks of telling anybody that we'll be back. Then the next day, I'll go visit his shop and offer my condolences at his loss and further offer the protection of a 'group of concerned citizens' at the low cost of five gold a month. This way, not only do we get some gear for ourselves, we stand to make a steady safe income. If we can pull it off with this merchant, then we can try it with others, until we have a tidy flow of coins into our purses. What say the both of ye?"
-----Seth accepts the gold from Gimplefwick. "Thanks, Dread Pirate, I just counted how much I got from the fat merchant - 15 Gold, so that’s 5 gold each. I think that is just enough for Picks, eight gold each with the 3 from the skinny merchant. I’m sorry I went to pieces there at the end afterwards. It was just that it was my first 'job' and I had this overwhelming urge to run."
-----Seth turns and looks at Gimplefwick with a concerned look, "Dread Pirate, I know nothing about 'protection racket' work, so I’ll follow whatever you say. Won’t it be best to wear hoods over our heads so he does not recognize us the next day? If we have time, it might also be good to ransack the merchants’ tents. That fat one is supposed to be meeting me at eight hours past noon, and he said that he had artwork in the tent. Were either of you able to look in the tent? Well, the tent is not far from the Weapons shop. Maybe we could do both jobs tonight. We do need some money after all, 24 of the 25 gold we got today is for Picks."
-----Gimplefwick nods at Seth's suggestion about the hoods, "Aye matey, we don't want that merchant recognizin’ us the next day as the same people that ransacked his home and store. But if we manage to pull off our raid tonight successfully, then he won't see our faces in the darkness of his bedroom. Actually I plan on just holdin me cutlass at his throat," Gimplefwick rattles the bent short sword strapped to his side, "and makin' some dire threats. Maybe only one other of our group should even be in the room, just in case ought should go awry. Once I have the merchant under control and tied up, then we can ransack the shop."
-----Gimplefwick rubs his trademark wispy beard and continues on thoughtfully, "Then the next day I'll go in with just one of ye, so as to make it apparent that I'm not workin' by meself. I'll do the talking when it comes down to the pitch for the protection racket and when we pillage his house beforehand. I've read all about...ummm.. I mean..I've done this sort of work before." Gimplefwick smiles reassuringly at the other two thieves.
-----Kazel smiles as she takes the gold from Gimplefwick, and starts twirling a piece in her hand. Her smile fades however as the talk shifts to extortion. She holds up her hand and says, "Wait, men, we already have enough for Picks, so shouldn't we go to the flower shop and see what he has in store first?"
-----She then turns to Gimplefwick, putting away her gold piece. "That's a bold scheme you're pitching, Wispybeard, and I know you have a score to settle with that man... but I prefer short-term business plans and keeping my marks in the dark." She pauses a bit and continues. "We can still hit his shop, but I rather not develop relationships with the merchant and his friends..."
-----Kazel glances around the table. "But like I was saying, why not go ask for the blue orchid first?"
-----Gimplefwick grins a piratical grin at Kazel, "Aye, wee lass," Gimplefwick begins, completely ignoring the obvious fact that Kazel is almost twice as tall as he is, "perhaps we have done enough work for one day. After all tomorrow is another day. I agree, let us go see Picks and find out what he has in mind for us."
-----The three walk out the front door of the tavern and right around the corner to an average looking house and shop. The sign over the door pictures a bouquet of flowers.
