-----Being the merciful fellow that he is, Gimplefwick grins at the female assassin's plight and attempts to stab her in the back as she is distracted by Kazel. The Dread Pirate gives the "merchant" that is slipping on the ground a wide berth. He quietly creeps up on the woman facing Kazel. Just as Gimplefwick is in striking distance, he raises his sword and stabs, but the woman moves at the last second. The Dread Pirate’s sword swishes as it cuts the air.
-----Kazel covers her wound and looks at the blood in her hand, then flicks it aside onto the street as she stares back at the assassin. A thin smile appears across her face as she lowers her voice in a dramatic and sinister tone. "For countless generations that cleaver has spilt the blood of a thousand dying pigs..." she intones as she suddenly launches into another round of furious attack. "Who did you think you are, you miserable pretenders and fakes!"
-----"Your puny life won’t be worth spit!" the dark-haired woman hisses as she suddenly thrusts in. Her sword misses Kazel and the young half-elf suddenly turns her blade into the woman’s stomach. The female assassin stops short with a sudden inhalation of air. Her dark eyes grow very large and she slowly looks over at Kazel standing next to her. For a few moments, Kazel and the assassin are almost cheek to cheek. A small smile crosses her lips and she leans over and presses her lips against the half-elven girl’s face. The woman then falls to the ground dead.
-----Seth points at the merchant and tells the mercenaries, "Secure that man, but be careful of the slippery surface." He waits cautiously on the rim of the action. Luckily, one of the mercenaries happens to catch the legs of the struggling assassin and begins to pull him out of the slippery area.
-----Just as they draw their swords and place their weapons at the man’s neck, a voice comes from the tower of the temple across the square. "Halt! Who goes there by the town well?"
-----For an instant, everyone goes silent in the shadows save for the big oaf still moaning and whimpering on the ground over his compromised manhood.
-----Gimplefwick curses under his breath as he looks at the tower, "Blast it, meddling guards! Looks like playtime is over kids. Let's get out of here! But maybe I have time for..." Gimplefwick quickly rifles through the dead woman's possessions, looking for his stolen gold. He grabs up a pouch tucked under the woman’s leather vest. Glancing over at Seth as he prepares to leave, Gimplefwick states, "Maybe we can take that one prisoner. We can question him as to the whereabouts of his remaining comrades. See if the mercs will grab him and drag him off."
-----"Hmmph. All hisses and no bite -" Kazel pulls out her short sword, then grabs the woman assassin's long sword and cuts off the scabbard before the corpse hits the ground. Quickly, she also retrieves her cleaver and cloak as she tells the mercenaries, "Hurry up! Grab that man and let's scram!"
-----She then suddenly notices the oaf still moaning on the ground, and as an afterthought grabs the crossbow from him and gives him a swift kick in the groin. The man cries out in agony.
-----Seth turns to the mercenaries. "Help that man there with the leg," he says, pointing to the mercenary tugging on the merchant by the leg. "Collect the prisoner and follow Admiral Dread!!"
-----He leans down as the men take hold of the prisoner and searches him quickly removing any weapons, rings or chains. When Kazel begins to move off he motions for the mercenaries to follow quickly with the prisoner.
-----Chortling happily, Gimplefwick recovers his pouch and gives the woman a quick pat down for any other valuables. Before any guards get close enough to see him, he gives the big oaf a quick stab in the back. The big man’s body stiffens and then relaxes. No more sound or struggling comes from him.
-----Gimplefwick then furtively looks about and states, "Let's get outta here!" Suiting actions to words, he scampers off headed back towards Braddock's tavern.
-----The Dread Pirate leads the way with Kazel right behind him. Seth, and the two mercenaries escorting the assassin, bring up the rear as the entire procession quietly moves through alleyways and across street blocks.
-----A ways off, they can hear a commotion that lets them know that guards have arrive at the scene of their encounter at the well.
-----Just as the party rounds a shadowed corner right across the street from the Two-Door Tavern, the trio of thieves hears a disturbance with the guards behind them. Spinning, they see the brown-haired assassin with the ancient eyes knocking one of the guards down. With a swoop, the other guard tries to slash the prisoner, but the assassin turns away from the attack and is soon swallowed by the shadows as he makes his escape.
-----Seth turns to Kazel and Gimplefwick. "Shall we go to a safe house for the night? I have a feeling that merchant might be back causing us trouble!"
-----Gimplefwick curses as the man runs off into the darkness, "Shiver me timbers. Well, we can't stay here now. Let's say farewell to our mercenary friends and head off to our safe house." Gimplefwick reaches in his pouch and gives the mercenaries an extra gold each, "That's fer staying quiet about what went on here tonight. Besides which if ye do talk about us and what went on here, that assassin and his friends will probably find ye. Anyway, thanks fer the help and try to stay low fer awhile."
-----Turning from the mercenaries, Gimplefwick says, "Let's get to the guild. We'll be safe enough there fer awhile." Gimplefwick then begins moving through dark alleyways towards the nearest guild entrance, always keeping an eye out for any followers or tagalongs.
-----Kazel covers her wound to prevent the blood from leaving a trail. As they run along, she says to the others, "The beggar said only one thing - 'Room 5, West Gate Inn.' That's probably their hideout or where the leader is... and by the way, that was quite a stab back there!"
-----Seth notices Kazel covering her wound. "How bad is your wound? Should we stop and get help before we hide or is it a mere scratch?"
-----"Let's just keep moving," Kazel replies, not slowing down her pace as she speaks.
-----Gimplefwick nods at Kazel's stoicism, "Right," he says as he puffs along, "We've got to get to the guild. They can dress and bandage her up there. We can also make plans to go after that room. If they haven't moved by now. Or laid in an ambush for us. Of course we could always burn the place down and kill 'em as they come out of the flaming wreckage of the hotel. But that might attract a bit too much attention. Let's just see what Wain has to say about all this."
-----Seth smiles, he no longer doubts the Dread Pirate’s ferocious nature as just talk - he has backed up his comments with mighty sword thrusts - not that Seth has any intention of changing his ways and buying a sword!
-----"Ok, if we can, I might need access to Brad’s back room at some stage. I warn you now, I can use that grease spell only one more time if we need it!"
