-----The towering humanoid does not move but watches curiously as the half-elven girl moves quickly. As she draws the orc in front of her and waits, the big one pulls the short sword from its mouth and narrows its eyes. It suddenly lets out a low gruff chuckle and pockets its ‘toothpick.’ Slowly it raises its arms flexing its hands. The great sharp nails on the end of each finger look black. It then clenches both fists and its expression pulls up into an evil looking grin. With its nose wrinkled into a snarl and its dark teeth exposed, it bellows out a low yell and begins to step forward.
-----As it lowers its first step in a running stance toward Kazel and the orc, the towering humanoid’s foot slips in the grass. With a great whoosh, its great body falls forward and it lands belly down. Its head is about fifteen feet from Kazel.
-----Still holding on to the orc in the shadows, Kazel sheaths her sword for the moment and takes out her caltrops. With a wave of her hand, she spreads them over the space between her and the big humanoid. She then immediately takes out her remaining knife and throws it at the prone creature. Her throw goes wide and her knife sails off into the darkness.
-----Seth remembers his disastrous attempt at stabbing a prone creature and reaches for his sling. He readies a bullet and fires at the huge humanoid. His shot goes straight at the struggling monster’s head. It strikes the thing in its face badly scratching its cheek.
-----The large humanoid pauses and brushes its cheek with the back of its massive hand. It looks at the dark blood that Seth’s sling bullet drew and growls. Still on its belly, it suddenly reaches forward with its great talons and grabs at the grass. The monster firmly latches on just beyond the slick area. In one slow strong motion, it begins to pull itself up and out.
-----Moving out of the darkness, Gimplefwick appears, cutlass in hand. He hesitates for a moment, obviously trying to figure out a way to stick his cutlass in the annoyed critter's backside. Then, when the creature flips over on it's belly and starts to drag itself out of the greasy area, Gimplefwick reverses his cutlass, holds it in both hands and takes a running leap up in the air and from behind, hoping to land on the creature's back and impale it. A look of lunatic joy spreads across his face as he leaps through the air, hairy feet wiggling back and forth as he strives to plunge his blade in the monster's back.
-----Kazel mutters something as she suddenly sees Gimplefwick leaping towards the advancing creature. From behind, she grabs the orc by its belt and collar, grunting "Off you go" and with a great swing sends it flying into the middle of the caltrop field. Almost at the same time, she jumps after it and hops off its back as a stepping stone, her sword flashing as she goes for the arms of the big humanoid to keep it from rising.
-----Seth does not know what to do, bodies fling everywhere. Should he fire another shot or not? Seth looks for another piece of pork fat in his pouch with his left hand while keeping the sling in his right. He waits in the wagon to see what comes of the flying bodies.
-----Just as the Dread Pirate takes to the air, the monster draws itself up on its knees. Gimplefwick misses the tail end of the huge thing landing squarely on his stomach. The greased area of the grass does not stop the halfling pirate, as Gimplefwick finds himself sliding along on his belly between the legs of the huge humanoid. He fires out below the front of the monster leaving the enspelled area and almost colliding headfirst with the orc that Kazel threw down.
-----Meanwhile Kazel leaps high, landing close to the arms of the rising monster. She quickly slashes in with her sword and the weapon bites deeply into the thing’s right arm injuring it. The large humanoid then stands up, and holding its arm, yells out in pain and anger.
-----Kazel gulps as the monster rises to its full height. "Back! Get back over the caltrops!" she yells at Gimplefwick and as the monster yells in pain, she deftly tumbles backwards with a one-handed cartwheel using her free hand. Once away from the monster's reach, she turns her back and hops over the orc heading towards Seth, to whom she shouts, "Pelt it!"
-----Gimplefwick, somewhat shaken by his slippery ride, regains his feet and hustles away from the monster. The huge thing begins to lumber forward swinging out at the orc in its rage. The orc dives to the ground avoiding a crushing blow from the monster.
-----Seth takes aim with his sling and fires, but his shot sails over the creature’s head. A few feet away, the Dread Pirate recovers and loads his sling. He quickly winds up and his missile strikes the humanoid in the chest. At the same time the big thing howls as if it stepped on something sharp. Even though it now appears hurt, it glances about at its three assailants with a murderous look.
