-----The party now moves quietly down the dark tunnel with Raven and Sol leading the way with torches. Every now and then, they pass wooden support beams that were placed long ago. The tunnel, for the main part, appears to be dry and sturdy. Carefully, everyone moves forward, for fear of the slightest footfall sending a noisy echo down the way. After walking about what seems a hundred yards or more, the light of the torches begins to pick up stones blocking the way at the end of the tunnel. The large cut blocks appear to make up a wall before them, possibly part of the foundation of the old tower.
-----Raven says to the group, "Look for any loose bricks or hidden doors. Why the hell would someone build a tunnel that went no where?"
-----Sarah helps the others look at the wall and the floor and the ceiling. Likewise, Sol begins to carefully search the area, for anything out of place. Soon all the adventurers are inspecting every inch of the wall before them. It proves to be a difficult task, indeed, as the light of the two torches does not provide enough light to see perfectly by. At the same time, the party tries to work quietly as possible for fear of being detected.
-----After a few moments, Gabe, over toward the right side of the tunnel, appears to be making puffing sounds. Thalog brings one of the torches toward him. The charmed man rubs his hands over the old stones and blows puffs of air to clear out any dust on the area in front of him. Suddenly, he stands up and points at the wall. "Mistress Sarah!" he says low but excitedly, "There be a seam here in the stone like it be outlinin’ a door." As the others approach, they can see a rectangular outline in the stone about five feet high and three feet wide.
-----Raven walks over to the area and scans the wall, "Where is it? Oh! Now I see it." Raven pauses and then quickly says to the bandit, "Good job."
-----Raven turns to Zentil and says, "Maybe your keen elven eyes can make out how to open this damn thing." Raven steps aside to give Zentil room.
-----"Hmmm, I don't think it's trapped, but it seems heavy. Might be able to pull it open if I can get my fingers in the crack." Zentil tries to pull the door open by slipping his fingers in the crack of the door and pulling.
-----As Zentil pulls, Thalog brings his torch over to supply some light. "Looks like he needs some help," he says looking at the others. Quickly Gabe rushes up and helps the elf pull at the stone door. Slowly it begins to get way from the rest of the wall and it pivots from the right. A small dark pathway is revealed.
-----"Wait!" Thalog whispers to the others. "If this leads us underneath the tower, do we all wish to take the tunnel or are some of us assaulting the tower a different way?"
-----"Well, we either catch 'em with an extra group of thugs now, or we wait until nightfall when maybe those others have left." Sol muses, "I think it MAY be more effective if we strike from two different ways, but I'm game ta go in now if that's what everyone decides." To reinforce this point, the young warrior eases his blade from its scabbard.
-----Raven says, "Zentil, do you want to sneak in and see what's in there?"
-----Sarah was about to head through the door. She pokes her head back around the corner. "I'm going this way, and I'm going right now. Whoever else wants to come follow me." Clearly she doesn't feel like planning anything right now.
-----A generous smile spreads on Sol's face. He moves forward through the opening, "That's tha spirit...I suppose we won't be missed too much!"
-----"Sure, I got excellent vision," Zentil peers into the darkness and moves quietly past the door into the passageway. "If I'm not back in 5 minutes....wait 5 more".
-----Seeing Zentil move into action, Sol stops moving and lets Zentil pass by. He leans back into the wall to wait.
-----Raven's right hand strikes out and tightly grabs Sarah's shoulder, "Just wait a minute. Let Zentil check it out first. The only advantage we have right now is surprise and I don't want you giving us away."
-----Raven releases his grasp and watches Zentil start to enter the tower. Raven says to Zentil, "You got ten minutes and then we're coming in."
-----Raven turns his eyes back to Sarah, "Okay with you?" Raven rests his left hand on the hilt of his short sword and watches Zentil fade into the darkness beyond the door. With a scowl on his face, Raven glances back to Sarah to see her response.
-----Sarah sighs, rolls her eyes, and then sits down on the floor looking bored. She starts to whistle a dance tune but stops when she sees Raven shaking his head. She stifles a yawn and waits for Zentil to come back.
-----Thalog looks around at the others soon after Zentil disappears down the tunnel. A few moments later, everyone hears the scraping sound of stone on stone echoing down the tunnel. They all tense, but the sound does not last long and no cries of help are heard.
-----Thalog takes a few small items from his pouch and looks them over. Everything remains quiet in the dim light of the two torches.
