-----Sarah sticks to the back, watching up the ramp to see if anyone is noticing or coming down. Sol leaps off the ramp, looking for the two bandits waking up.
-----Raven’s long sword pierces the metal rings of the guard’s armor. With a heave, the ranger pushes the man off his sword, both freeing his weapon and avoiding his opponent’s clumsy swing.
-----Suddenly the other guard lunges in, injuring Raven in his right upper leg. The blade slices across the muscle drawing blood.
-----Fighting off the pain, Raven stabs in with his short sword toward the first guard. The guard falls dead from the deathblow delivered to his abdomen. Turning fiercely on the guard that injured him, Raven brings his long sword across in a back slash. The weapon cuts nothing but air as the guard moves back.
-----As Sol moves along the boxes looking for the bandits and letting his eyes get used to the dark, he hears a noise on each side of him. A fist on his right side comes flying at him and he ducks. Likewise, the bandit on the other side of him grabs for Sol but the young man spins and faces his opponents. Bringing his sword up, he quickly stabs one of the bandits and drops him to the floor. As Sol’s weapon sweeps the air for the second bandit, it fails to hit the retreating opponent. The bandit picks up something smallish like a rock and heaves it at Sol’s head, but it sails over the young man’s head as he ducks.
-----On the ramp, Raven fully faces the last guard. Raven slashes in with both swords, but the weapons seem to do little more than make contact with the guard’s chainmail. With a quick thrust of his own weapon, the guard stabs in, piercing Raven’s studded leather and his gut. Raven clutches at his hurt abdomen and feels the warm blood flow!
-----Down on the floor, the bandit succeeds in finding a short sword and wildly tries to swing at Sol in one motion. Predictably, the weapon misses. With a quick movement, Sol brings his sword across aiming for the man’s mid-section. The bandit leaps back and the blade of the sword hits one of the wooden crates nearby. The weapon seems to be caught in the splintered wood.
-----Not too far away, Thalog and Rand stand over a bound and gagged Heiros and the badly wounded guard the Sol launched off the ramp. The illumination from a single torch held by Thalog provides a weak light.
-----Sarah sees that everything is pretty much under control. She decides to mosey on up the ramp and see what she can see.
-----Raven’s short sword stabs in, but is deflected off the man’s chainmail. He next hacks in with his long sword, but the guard parries it and the weapons loudly clang. Raven quickly recovers and almost kneeling thrusts at the man at an upward angle. Raven’s sword slides under the man’s chain shirt and rides almost to the hilt in the man’s gut. The dying guard’s weapon clatters as it hits the ramp. The guard falls backward and lies still on the ramp.
-----As Raven stands bleeding and panting, Sol grunts in surprise as his favoured weapon is now momentarily denied. Hoping to make the best of the situation, he draws a short sword from his right side. Quickly he follows the bandit and stabs in, scratching the man badly along his right arm. The bandit retaliates but misses Sol as the young man draws back. Sol thrusts in and the bandit parries his weapon. With a swoop, Sol brings his short sword raking across the bandit’s chest and drawing blood. Surprising Sol, the bandit takes the close opportunity to attack. The enemy’s weapon stabs Sol, injuring his left shoulder.
-----The two step back from each other and Sol lunges at the man again. The bandit once again meets his sword in a parry and the blades scrape together. However, this time Sol pushes the bandit’s weapon down and catches his opponent off balance. By the time the enemy recovers, Sol’s sword plunges into the bandit’s heart, ending the battle.
-----Angry and bleeding, Sol strides over to the guard who is badly wounded. Seeing the intensity in the young man’s eyes, the guard raises his arm and pleads, "Spare my life!"
-----Raven looks around and mutters, "Not bad..." Raven then cleans off his weapons on the cloak of one of the dead guards. Raven looks on to see what Sol does.
-----"Dammit!" Sol swears at the guard, "You're supposed to say 'Nothing can stop us', then you get up and attack me. Well....come on, you bloody sod!" Sol continues to glare at the offender.
-----Raven moves down to where Sol is, "Easy Sol, our new pal here might be of some use." Raven then turns to the guard, "Kiss the floor or I'll let my friend finish you off. Get on your belly and keep your nose on the ground. How many more of you are in this damn tower? Be honest, our wizard can tell when someone is lying."
-----The injured guard looks at Sol with a startled expression. Sol sneers at him as he turns and wipes his short sword clean on the dead guard’s cloak. The guard then lies face down as Raven instructed him. Sol then goes over and pulls his longsword free from the crate.
