-----"...Most High Dark Priestess, Devlin," Sarah pauses to sneer at Devlin’s body, before continuing. "Please accept this payment from me in the hopes it may earn your trust in me once again. It is with the utmost respect that I wish us to form an alliance once again, now that I am established in Redmarsh. Hearthorn shall fall yet!" Sarah starts to giggle. "This I have no doubt of..." here Sarah has to take a break to stop her laughing. She clears her throat and continues. "...although events of the past month have forced us to change our plans. Redmarsh is in disarray and the time is ripe for the Darkness to descend upon it. Now that you firmly hold Oakwood," Sarah stops herself from laughing and keeps reading "...please consider journeying southward. My guards will provide you with what you need to know to find me."
-----"With the utmost admiration and respect, K."
-----"Did you notice he signed it K? Just like the other one we found?" Sarah says, proud of herself for noticing. Apparently she has forgotten about executing the two men for the time being.
-----She turns back to the book.
-----Raven says, "Interesting." Raven turns to the two captured guards, "You'll tell us how to find Krondor. I want maps drawn showing us how to find the keep and its layout. I want troop sizes and how well trained they are. If you can think of anything else of use, it might save your necks." Raven helps the one guard back up to his feet, "You say this was your first mission and that you didn't know about Krondor's history. Well now is the time to prove you’re not evil hearted men. If you’re honest with us, I'll put in a good word for you. Otherwises I'll see you both hang. Who wants to go first? Sol, you want to talk to this one and can you think of some more questions for these two?"
-----After Sol speaks, Raven separates the men and has them draw their maps and give info, making sure the men can't hear each other.
-----Sarah gives Raven a somewhat annoyed look when he mentions not killing the men, but is soon engrossed in her book once more.
-----Sol turns back from the alcove and grabs one of Krondor's men. He begins to lead him behind the wall hanging the two originally emerged from. "Yes, I've got one more question. How did th' two o' ye manage t' get past th' sphere o' Darkness?" Sol asks wryly before the two of them disappear behind the wall hanging.
-----Sarah suddenly thinks of something and says to Sol, without looking at him. "Hey ask him about..." her voice trails off as she reads from her book "...that temple...with the dark in..." But she never finishes, as she becomes interested in something in the book.
-----Raven nods, "Got it Sarah and your hair is on fire." Raven pauses to see if Sarah notices his last statement. Raven smiles and shakes his head when she doesn't.
-----The man with Sol says, "’Twas one o’ the strangest things I’d been through. When we was a’comin’ here, we did come a’cross this big dark thing in the woods. Some o’ the witch followers was standin’ outside it and lead us to this small boat settin’ in a creek o’ the foulest water I’d ever laid eyes to. We gits in the boat n’ one o’ the witches poles us up the creek to the cave. They was a’sayin’ not to leave the boat until we gits to the cave. Not that we was a’ wantin’ to! We seen sights in that dark thing I don’ think peoples ought ta be seein’."
-----Sol and the man then continue behind the wall hanging.
-----Raven then turns toward the other man-at-arms. After Romney finds some parchment, they stand over the man while he draws for them a crude map. The map shows the area of the Estate of Redmarsh. The Town of Redmarsh stands about ten miles to the north of the Altor River. About fourteen miles to the northeast lies the village of Grute. The village has a trail road that leads from Oakwood into the area of Redmarsh. From Grute, two roads lead southward. One of these travels toward the Town of Redmarsh. The other road leads more directly south to a village located on the river by the name of Nox. At a point about two miles east from Nox, the man indicates a small keep. This, he tells Raven and the others, is where Krondor is.
-----The keep is a small moathouse featuring four curtain walls with small round towers in the three of the places where the walls meet. A larger square tower makes up the last corner of the wall. Inside the wall is a small courtyard and a keep that has two stories and a dungeon in it.
-----Krondor, according to the man, has a troop of about twenty manning the keep. Some of these guards are very strong and surly men.
