-----With little choice, Jeilin likewise begins to study the battle and the burning fires, though clearly disappointed that they found armies instead of a hole in the ground. Staying with the group, she continues to follow a step behind should they locate and move towards the leadership of the Silvergard forces.
-----Sol, Raven and Jeilin ride off the northern edge of the trail road carefully approaching the long line of mounted warriors situated behind the triple rows of elven archers. A horn is blown and a great volley of arrows is released. The deadly missiles soar up, across and downward with fierce intensity upon the struggling knights of Ravenhold.
-----A great cry goes up from the warriors of Silvergard as those on horseback raise sword and shield in defiance of the enemy. Little attention is given to the adventurers as they ride behind the lines except for the occasional nod or quick acknowledgement of greeting.
-----Now the elven archers begin to retreat behind the riders exposing the mounted cavalry of the Silver Woods to the field of battle. The horn is heard to blow three times and suddenly the mounted warriors gallop forth in the direction of the river.
-----Just a few yards away, the adventurers can see a woman with dark skin and hair wearing studded leather and holding a short sword tightly in her hand redirecting the archers to reform their ranks and hold their positions. Meanwhile, the Silver Cavalry loudly enters the smoking scrub field; their front lines already mowing down some of the opposition.
-----Sol approaches the dark skinned woman, reining Thunder in sharply. He calls to her, his voice just rising above the sharp clamour of battle, "When ye've finished wi' this lot, are ye bound fer Kulendra?"
-----“Aye, we are,” the woman answers with a smile toward the Gorian. Even though she smiles, her voice seems very commanding and strong. “Greetings, once again, Sol Herron. How does everything fare in Kulendra?”
-----"Greetings an' well met again, Sula. Ku holds well enough, though th' folk are understandably nervous about their future. Do ye want an extra sword arm or two here, or are ye sorted?" Sol offers generously, one that is mostly selfless, as his eyes continue to watch the Silvergard knights wreak havoc.
-----Raven nods in agreement as Sol offers to add their swords to the fray.
-----Sula gives a knowing smile and says, “The enemy had set fire to the brush and we peppered them with arrows. Our riders are pushing them back toward the river. There they cannot flee, but the flanks are not covered yet. If you want, you can ride around and protect the flanks.” Here she points to the east and west sides of the smoking field. She quickly grabs their attention and says, “If you see our riders pull back, retreat! There may be more arrows on the way.”
-----"Flank protection... yeah we can give that a go. East looks good to me." Sol starts to nudge Thunder in a trot to the east, casting an aside glance as he looks at Jeilin apologetically, "Sorry, we'll stop by the ore hole on the way back!"
-----Raven scans his eyes towards the east and then nods. Raven moves to follow Sol.
-----Staying with the group, Jeilin also heads to the east, but trailing a little behind.
-----Once again, the three riders head east, this time with the sun a little higher and occasionally covered by passing clouds. The smoke from the burning vegetation continues to rise but the gentle wind also carries it slightly to the east. To the northeast from their position a distant hill is seen and as they slowly skirt the eastern border of the scrub field and head south, they see the river just a half-mile off. Here, they can watch the eastern flank of the battle and can easily close in if they wish.
-----Toward the middle of the battlefield, the adventurers can see the officers of the Ravenhold faction fighting with their counterparts from Silvergard while still mounted on horses. Scattered about are the bodies of the Ravenhold foot soldiers. For now the fighting appears to be relentless although about ten of the Ravenhold officers are remaining.
-----Sol was eager - of that there was no doubt. Still, the bulk of the fighting seemed to be in the centre, and the small group had been pledged to watch this flank. A problem, that the Gorian quickly came to a solution for, "Say, what think ye, Raven? If we harass their closest flank enough, we'd still be doing our job, an' maybe, just maybe we can convince those bastards t'send someone o' interest our way."
-----Raven greets Sol’s idea with a smile and, in the next moment, the heroes are riding toward the action. The Stormbringer and the Hunter both raise their swords as they charge across the field letting the sunlight shine on their blades.
-----As they approach, they see three Ravenhold officers armored in chain and carrying shields while mounted exchanging blows with three of the Silvergard cavalry. One of them glances toward the east seeing the silhouettes of the riding heroes and roughly throws off the one fighting him.
-----With a strong commanding voice, he yells, “They mean to flank us now, the cowards! Fight for Black Bog! Fight for Ravenhold! Fight for Sintor!” With an intense thrust, the officer smites his Silvergard opponent sending him to the ground where he lies still. One other with him fights free of his foe and while the third continues to engage his enemy, the first two round toward Raven and Sol.
