-----The orcs grimace at the young warrior as he utters his battle roar, readying their axes to partly ward off any death strokes from the Lathanian blade. Sol rushes into the line and immediately downs an orc, slicing straight into its chain-covered torso.
-----Now things become hard to observe as the battle becomes more heated. A virtual wave of orcs moves forward seeking blood and victory with their weapons. Sol disembowels another orc quickly, but his next swing is parried by a scarred faced humanoid. It sneers into the Gorian's face and comes close to raking Sol with its axe blade. Off to the left, another orc tries to get in to trip up Sol, but it misses as the raging human moves.
-----At the same time, a familiar point of bright red light leaves Sarah's dainty finger soaring across the entry hall to the line of archers. The commander opens his mouth to give the order to fire when he stops suddenly, his attention grabbed by the latest spell to be cast. So it is, that when the red pin-point explodes to the blossoming fire effect, it catches the orcs off guard and hits them with full force.
-----Just before the impact of the explosion, Raven rammed his short sword up into the jaw of one of the orcs who injured his chest muscles. Striking a particular vessel, the enemy dies quickly. The hunter's demeanor is so fierce that the other orc near him missed with a desperate swing.
-----Lovan slams his hammer into his orc a third time, producing a sickening crack. The orc slumps dead to the floor, but two more humanoids are waiting. One humanoid jabs weakly at the storm priest and misses. Although it does not make contact, it unfortunately produces the desired effect. While Lovan's attention is diverted, another humanoid closes behind him and delivers a slash across the back of the storm priest's shoulders. The force knocks Lovan down to his knees.
-----As the smoke clears around the back stairway, a favorable though revolting scene is revealed. All of the orcish archers are dead; their charred and burning bodies haphazardly littering the steps. The commander still stands for the moment. With a roar of anger and pain, he grabs off his metal helmet exposing the reddened and burned flesh beneath. Still wincing in pain, he throws the helm down still heated from the blast. He looks about at the dead warriors and moves gingerly in his hot armored suit. Even though he now looks badly hurt, he refocuses on the fight below him. "Kill them! Kill them all!" he shouts and slowly descends the steps.
-----Back around again come the two swirling magical discs. Mustering as much strength as he can, the commander raises his black shield and wards them off again!
-----Suddenly above the crowd of fighters there appears a strange form. Hovering above, there appears to be the dark form of a hideous hag with greenish skin and gray wiry hair. Wisps of her black dress blow about her. She smiles down at the orcs with a toothless grin and begins to wiggle her fingers. Sarah feels Caranip chuckle as wary gasps go up from some of the humanoids.
-----Raven takes the opportunity to cut down two more orcs with savage strikes. The wolf beside the hunter snaps at the rest that continue to approach.
-----The hag above didn't sway Sol's attention, for he figured the creature was out of reach for now, so could not yet be dealt with. One thing that did register in the depths of Sol's churning mind, was that the orcs' leader was making its way towards the party. It was always easier when your opponent was willing to meet you halfway.
-----So in response, the Stormbringer sought to do just that. Ever still, he drove himself forwards, ducking and weaving incoming attacks and responding with more of his own.
-----"Very well done," Sarah mutters softly to Caranip, so as not to break her apprentice's concentration. The mage then sees that her beloved is charging a very mean looking orc. Sarah prepares a spell and cast it, although she has a feeling the creature's strange shield might cancel it out.
-----Spinning his sword aloft, Sol arcs across a humanoid's chest taking it out before it can defend against the maneuver. Quickly, he brings his blade around again, beheading another orc.
-----Raven rams his sword into an opponent's gut momentarily using the dying orc as a shield to back up other humanoids. The wolf at the hunter's side leaps up and bites into another orc's neck. The orc falls screaming with the wolf on top of him.
-----Lovan swings upward as he tries to rise. His weapon catches the jaw of the closest orc, giving a resounding and quite impressive crack as weapon meets bone. The orc tries to retaliate but misses. Another humanoid, surprised by the storm priest's attack, swings too high to hit Lovan.
-----Sol parries attacks from two separate orcs. One axe comes very close to striking the young warrior, but Sol repels it at the last moment.
