-----"That's what I meant, something to simply trap it or crush it. Forget about the silver. A deep enough pit or falling piano or pig's bladders full of pepper juice. Or even drown it, if it can be drowned. But I s'pose we only have time for pits along with nets and nooses."
-----"Digging a pit would take a while to do," Xavia answers, "If the pit were to be dug outside, no doubt the creatures would be on to us."
-----The Lady Paladin stares at where the wagon sits just inside the barn doors. "Unless we dug the pit inside the stable and drew them inside of here."
-----The Dread Pirate wrinkles his brow in thought and finally says, "Arrr, I don't really know how we could lure the werebeasts in. If we set up traps it'd be a purely defensive maneuver. I think our best bet is to just wait til before dawn and then go out and start wreaking havoc. I think we can be pretty safe in assuming that they won't have any sort o' organized plan either. However, we should make sure that everybody has either a magical weapon or a silver one. If worse comes to worst, we can melt down a few silver coins in the fire place and pour the melted ore onto the unenchanted blades and weapons. It might play havoc with the edges and the balance, but at least you'd have a silver club that'd inflict some damage. Actually, now that I think about it, we could take some bolt and arrowheads and coat those as well. Then when we go out, those that have enchanted weapons can take up the perimeter defense, guarding those who have bows and our magic users. Then the protected folk with the missile weapons can attack, aiding the rest of us in defeating the werebeasts. Or if the werebeasts refuse to attack us when we're all together, then the missile users can force the issue a bit by attacking them from a distance. We can silver-coat some of our caltrops as well, just in case we're forced to take a retrograde action."
-----The Dread Pirate commences rummaging through his various pouches, conveniently emerging with a pair of silver candlesticks. "Errr, something I just picked up recently. But they should work nicely, if we have a frying pan or something to melt them down in."
-----Kazel nods, "Sounds like a plan. That's got to be pots and pans in the tavern if no one has any in their travel packs."
-----Seth looks up from his study and looks at everyone and then nods. "Oh, um, could someone take my crossbow bolts and dip them? I really should study a bit, make sure we have some spells that can help." He looks back down at his book and then suddenly has another idea. "I have some silver coins here too, if you need more silver!"
-----Xavia looks at Kazel and says, "That is a good idea! We should also start a fire in the tavern's fireplace." Quickly the Lady Paladin instructs three of the guards to enter the tavern, start a fire and locate pots and pans for the melting process.
-----Xavia then casts a stern look toward the Dread Pirate and his candlesticks. "Might I ask where you got those?" she asks with an uncertain tone in her voice.
-----Just then something loudly slams into the side of the stable building. The horses are startled and Marast grabs his bow while ducking low.
-----"By Moradin's Hammer!" Runik shouts as he glances about.
-----Brandel and Krord both draw their dark blades, while the little girl clutches Kazel's arm.
-----"Hold steady!" Xavia commands as she looks toward the wall facing the north. The two guards from Oakwood and the two Priests of Justice position themselves close to the paladin.
-----In the next moment, everything falls silent as dust descends where it was shaken loose from the wall. No window is positioned in this wall so it is hard to see what awaits outside.
-----"If there's any protection spells to be cast now'd be a good time," Kazel says to Xavia. "And please spare one or two for the girl." She says patting the child while giving all her non-magic weapons and arrows for the guards to dip silver in.
-----Seth tries to hide below the side of the wagon and slowly puts his books away.
-----The Dread Pirate scowls at the direction the sound came from, then says, "Shiver me timbers, they're probably just tryin to see what happens if they make some noise. Or they might be workin themselves up to a direct assault. In which case, we need to quit flappin our jaws and melt some silver down." Candlesticks in hand, ignoring the paladin's query about them, the Dread Pirate stalks towards the inn to acquire a frying pan and start melting the silver.
-----As the Dread Pirate enters the tavern, he sees two of the guards fixing the wood in the fireplace to set a blaze to. A third has now gathered a few metal pots and joins the other two in the common room. The two guards from Oakwood enter the tavern and, after eyeing the Dread Pirate, set up their posts at the tavern door and windows.
