-----The Dread Pirate backs up towards the steps, daggers poised to throw at the appearance of any maniacal ogres.
-----Brandel lights up a torch spilling the light into the wide corridor where everyone stands. The small caltrops dully reflect the light spotted here and there on the floor.
-----The Dread Pirate suddenly is aware of someone large standing between him and Kazel. Krord had quickly pulled the dizzied dwarven bodyguard back and now stands between the two rogues with his beefy fists raised in front of his face.
-----Suddenly, the huge ogre roars out from the dark room. Hefting a huge club, it tramples at the people assembled in front of it and into the scattered, trapped field. Its ugly face twists into a look of rage and pain as its large foot meets the floor and embeds one of the caltrops in its foot. Momentarily, it stops and drops its weapon.
-----Seeing a pause in the ogre's action, Kazel and the Dread Pirate let go with their daggers. Both of Gimplefwick's poisoned daggers thud heavily into the monster's torso and protrude from it. One of Kazel's missiles misses the ogre sailing past its massive arm into the dark room beyond. Her other dagger, however, finds its home in the creature's shoulder.
-----With a furious growl, Krord steps up and slams his right fist up into the monster's chin. With a mighty crack, the ogre's head is thrown back and its body begins to fall backward. As it hits the floor, the ogre's form begins to stiffen although it still breathes.
-----The Dread Pirate exclaims, "Ha! There's one down. But get back here, Krord! There be at least one other back there. Oh well, we might as well go after it. It looks like Krord is a bit unreasonable when it comes to ogres."
-----The Dread Pirate draws his cutlass and carefully edges forward, avoiding the scattered caltrops.
-----Seth holds his crossbow in a menacing way and follows behind the others.
-----The Dread Pirate begins to lead Kazel and Marast through the opening into the next chamber. Brandel grabs a hold of Krord's arm and motions to the floor indicating the scattered debris. Runik finally appears to have cleared his bumped head and gritting his teeth moves forward behind the raggedy-haired elf.
-----Just as Gimplefwick emerges into the next room, he sees the ogre that Kazel had stabbed lying in a pool of its own blood. It weakly pulls itself away from the opening as if making for the nearest dark corner. As it looks at the halfling pirate, it snarls and sweeps its arm at him as if to wave him away. Though defiant, the huge humanoid looks near death.
-----The Dread Pirate looks at the ogre and sighs, "Kinda sad isn't it? Poor old thing. One minute enjoying a nice little snooze, then suddenly a swarm of tiny little adventurers charge in and beat you and your other ogre buddies to a bloody pulp. One minute yer the lord of yer kingdom...well, lord of a dank, nasty pit anyway. Havin a good time with yer little ogre friends. Just waitin fer a tasty meal o' raw sheep guts. Then, with no warnin at all....WHAM! Ye suddenly find some scrawny little adventurer has gone and stuck a knife in yer back. And I think ye'd have to ask yerself at this point. Do I know these adventurers? What'd I ever do to these guys? It's all so sordid and depressin."
-----As the Dread Pirate philosophizes about the melancholic life of ogre-kind, he sheathes his cutlass, pulls out his trusty sling and starts whipping bullets at the bleeding monster. "Mind you, I'm still going to kill it and loot it. Somebody should go kill that other one too."
-----The Dread Pirate slings one bullet at the monster and one is all that is needed. The small projectile fires across at the struggling ogre and with a sickening thud implants itself right between the humanoid's eyes. The body immediately slumps and the head hits solidly against the floor.
-----With a maniacal laugh, the Dread Pirate quickly climbs the dead ogre's body to commence a thorough search of it.
-----Outside the room, Krord draws forth his borrowed black sword and stands over the other unconscious ogre. In a furious motion, the large mercenary chops his blade down with both hands across the remaining ogre's neck.
-----Savagely reaching down with his left hand, Krord grabs up the decapitated head and holds it aloft. He also raises his sword in his right hand. While the dark blood flows from the ugly monstrous head, Krord throws his head back and bellows triumphantly into the darkness.
-----The Dread Pirate looks up at Krord's bellowing, saying, "That boy has a strong dislike of the ogre. Maybe somebody should go try to calm him down a bit."
