-----Sol and Abram then take the second watch. Sometime after midnight, clouds begin to slowly fill the sky. The moon hangs overhead looking almost like an angry orange eye when it peeks out from among the moving clouds.
-----Suddenly, something flies out of the darkness. A slender shaft-like object sticks out of the ground close to where Bradley is sleeping. Another object lands close to Sol's foot as he stares off into the darkness in the direction of the woods.
-----Raven's wolf leaps up growling and barking a warning. A quick look at the objects sticking up from the ground identifies them as crude looking spears. Off to the west toward the trees of the small forest, comes angry bestial yelling.
-----Sol's head jerks down to glance at the missile lying at his feet to determine the direction it came from. "Camp under attack!" He yells as he charges off in the direction indicated by the spears.
-----"Sol?" Sarah hears panic in the warrior's voice and wakes up. "Where?" She tries to get a bearing on where the spears are coming from and ducks behind a tree for cover.
-----Raven grabs his bow and then with the wolf by his side he follows Sol.
-----"MiLady Sarah!" Romney calls as he jumps up from where he was resting. Seeing that Abram has already found the mage behind a nearby tree, he runs over to also defend her.
-----"Blast!" Garrison says as he sees the warrior and the ranger running off into the darkness. Grabbing his weapon, he takes off heading in the eastern direction where the other two ran.
-----Rinda likewise jumps up and runs after the others hefting her club.
-----Just beyond the circle of light, those on the run can see two tall humanoid shapes running away from the camp now heading for the trees in the distance.
-----Refusing to let the attackers get away, Sol continues to pump his legs harder and harder.
-----Raven yells to Sol, "Hold up, it could be a trap. We're running right where they want us to. They could also be trying to draw us away from Sarah. I say let them go. We could set a trap of our own if they return to our camp."
-----Raven begins to slow, refusing to run after an unknown enemy in an unknown country.
-----"Ah dammit...." Sarah says as she sees the enemies running away. "Let's go." She runs up to Raven who has stopped. "What do you think? Should we go after them?" She asks.
-----Raven shakes his head, "Why would two creatures attack a group of eight armed adventures unless they had some backup. No, I won't run blindly after them." Raven watches Sol hoping he'll stop chasing their attackers.
-----Sol jerks to a halt, breaking out of his reverie. He then turns and walks back to Raven whilst occasionally glancing at the departing creatures. "Fine. I'm back. Though I hope ye realize this is unnatural. Not th' attack...that was stupid enough. No, stopping th' chase. That was just plain rude."
-----The warrior's lips curl into a smile to show the hunter that Sol's joking. "Okay, go back t'sleep, though yer watch isn't too far off. Come one Abram, let's get back t'watch an' make sure we see those creatures first th' next time." Sol then begins to herd everyone back to camp.
-----Raven smiles back and says, "You are correct, most rude." Raven starts to look at their attackers' tracks. "Let's see if I can trace where they attacked from. I'm hoping they'll try to attack again from the same spot. Then the hunters become the hunted." Raven shrugs, "I know it's a slim chance, but it's worth a try."
-----Raven continues to examine the tracks.
-----As Raven appears to find the beginnings of tracks on the ground, Garrison glances about in the darkness. "Hold," he simply says, as a suspicious look crosses his face. He stares off toward the woods that the humanoids are making for.
-----Suddenly Raven's wolf crouches and growls staring in the same direction.
-----With that, four large forms seem to spring up from the ground in different spots just a few yards away. Hefting spears, the creatures hurl their weapons at the surprised adventurers. A spear lands just a few feet from Raven and Garrison actually catches a clumsily thrown weapon out of the air.
-----One spear glances by Rinda lightly scratching her arm. The huntress growls as she grabs at her bleeding arm.
-----A final spear arches straight at the young warrior. With a heavy thud, it strikes Sol square in the back. Though it is partially deflected by his chain mail, the point of the weapon finds his covered skin badly scratching him.
-----"SOL!!" Sarah yells seeing the spear go to his back, the young sorceress turns her head away at the last second, not wanting to see it enter Sol.
