-----At the end of the block, they turn east onto the next street, where down the long thoroughfare, the dead and dying bodies seem to be laid out every few feet. Abbar begins to lead them toward a large building up on their right. The rogues try not to look at the corpses as much as they have to as if the smell is not proving to be sickening enough.
-----As Abbar approaches the small boarded-up side door to the large building with Brandel and Krord, the rogues along with Runik hide in an alley just across the street. From there, they occasionally peer out looking for an unexpected patrol.
-----Abbar, himself looks around and seeing that everything seems clear for the moment, motions Brandel and Krord to the side door to clear the way into the building. The two mercenaries begin grasping the boards wrenching them free of where they are mounted on the doorframe. The boards seem easily freed but the two do their work carefully as even the slightest noise sounds loud in a mostly dead filled street.
-----As the two finish their work, they place the boards in an alley along the building so as not to seem obvious to a passing patrol.
-----Abbar then checks up and down the street before motioning the rogues over to him. The strange man stops Krord just before he attempts to open the side door. Approaching the three rogues, he says, "If any amongst you know how to test the door to make sure there are no traps, do so now."
-----Seth looks at Abbar and hisses, "Did you put the trap there?" as he approaches the door and begins to see if there are any traps on the door.
-----Abbar's eyes darken at Seth's verbal jab. He then looks up and down the street before saying, "Great care must be taken my friend. Many people in this town have died because they foolishly discarded what my friend Alum knew."
-----Seth stands back from the door indicating that there are no traps. Brandel and Krord carefully draw their swords and the smaller human turns the handle on the portal letting the door swing open. The interior of the building is dark and musty smelling.
-----Brandel looks at the three rogues and shrugs as if asking who's inside first.
-----The Dread Pirate moves forward, taking a quick glance inside the building, making sure that nothing is waiting to pounce as soon as he enters. Seeing nothing, he carefully checks the floor just inside the doorway for traps, then cautiously enters.
-----The rest quickly begin following the Dread Pirate inside. Brandel closes the door behind them and props some boards against it. He and Krord then stay close to it just in case the search is somehow interrupted.
-----The interior of the building resembles a barn as large doors are mounted on the wall facing the street. In the dim shadows of the place, three wagons are stored taking up much of the floor. The windows are dusty on the outside and permit little of the light through. Overhead a dark loft makes up the second floor of the building. Creaking sounds are heard from the rafters as if a wind causes a slight shifting of the roof.
-----Off to the right looks to be stalls where horses were once kept though they are obviously empty now. Saddles, leather goods and tools are seen about the place as if only living things were the only missing item here.
-----Looking at the wagons, Abbar says quietly, "I believe our wagon was the one toward the back."
-----Kazel starts to look around the building, watching out for any killer rats turning people into zombies. She checks if there have been any footprint or activity around and then any openings into the sewers below.
-----"So Abbar, why did you want to search this place first?" she suddenly asks.
-----Seth stares towards the wagon at the back that Abbar indicated was his. He waits until Kazel finishes her search and then casually moves towards the wagon. When he arrives at it, he carefully makes sure there are no traps activated and then checks the contents of the wagon to see what it contains.
-----"It was to this place that I believe Alum came to the night he did not come back," Abbar says replying to Kazel. He then makes his way hurriedly over to the wagon. In the back of the wagon stands a single wooden box. Abbar quickly climbs into the wagon as if to beat Seth in inspecting the contents. An expression of relief and anticipation is on his face as he sees the box.
-----In lifting the lid, the expression quickly changes to one of grief and disappointment. "Curses!" the strange man says lowly, "my last two pieces of silver crafts are gone!" He then looks about the dark place making sure they are not attracting unwanted attention.
-----Runik walks over to the stalls holding his warhammer in both hands. The whites of his eyes seem to stand out in the dim shadows.
-----Kazel starts to examine each of the wagons as well. She carefully uses her sword to lift or move any covers. After that, she waves to the others to look at a trapdoor she finds by the wall. "Doesn't seem like it's been used for a while," she adds.
