-----A beautiful aura of small swirling stars comes into being around Sarah. Romney keeps his wits about him enough to step back but Abram suddenly comes into contact with the newly formed magic. "Oww!" he exclaims in surprise, but his outburst is ignored by the loud noise of the dragon's approach.
-----Time seems to slow as the dragon glides within striking distance of Sol. First Raven and Rinda fire arrows at the dragon. Both missiles ricochet harmlessly off the monster's scales.
-----Sol hesitates as long as he can. He then guides Thunder with his knees and with his left hand jerks quickly on the reins to force Thunder to his left side. At the last moment the young warrior swings his sword magnificently scoring a nearly critical wound to the under part of the dragon's neck.
-----Angered, but still determined, Raven nocks another arrow. Barely breathing, the hunter takes careful aim and becomes one with his weapon. The missile flies and heads straight for the huge beast. The arrow strikes the dragon just below the neck, burying the missile and causing a rush of dark blood.
-----Rinda's second arrow bounces off the armored hide again, but at that moment, Garrison comes within reach of an extended wing. The woodsman yells out as he leaps and swings his battleaxe, ripping into a black wing.
-----By this time, the dragon angered and feeling the first sharp threats of pain, tries to strike at Sol as it passes over his head. Sol moves just in time just barely avoiding the raking of large sharp claws. The huge thing continues on and the Gorian hears a swish in the air as the tail passes over him.
-----With a heavy thud, the dragon lands a few yards from the mounted Gorian. Thunder gallantly rears, not in fear but seemingly in defiance of the dragon, and wheels around so Sol can face the menace.
-----The dragon wheels also and brushes its great tail along the ground stirring up a light cloud of dust. It raises its head and searches about as if to look for the ones who have injured it. Its jaw begins to drop and it sucks in air as if ready to use its breath weapon.
-----Sarah makes a mental note to apologize to Abram and tend to his wound after the battle. "This way," She says to the two guards as she moves Marlexana to flank the dragon. She manuevers, she hopes, enough for her and the two guards to be out of range of the dragon's breath when it flies at the warriors. She lowers her father's wand and incites a different incantation, shooting the familiar golden missiles at the dragon's head.
-----A look of surprise crosses Raven's face as his arrow wounds the dragon. Raven mutters to himself, "By The Hunter, it CAN be hurt." Raven puts away his bow and runs towards the dragon. Raven draws his swords to attack the dragon.
-----The dragon's neck rises ominously above its small dust cloud looking much like a snake ready to strike. Its eyes narrow as it focuses in on the mounted young warrior in front of it.
-----Suddenly, just as the beast looks to shoot its unholy breath, three golden streaks of magical energy slam into the left side of its head. The dragon jerks its head skyward momentarily stunned in the attack.
-----Seeing the opening, Sol launches Thunder forward. The warhorse carries the Gorian right up to the convulsing creature. Sol swings in with his blade but unfortunately his sword is recoiled by the scales where the neck meets the chest area.
-----Quickly now, Garrison, just a few feet from Sol, grabs onto the monster's left claw with one hand. Boosting himself higher so he forces his arm around the appendage for leverage, he hefts his battleaxe in his other hand. With a mighty swing, he reaches as high as he can bringing his weapon home toward the backside of the dragon's neck. The battleaxe bites deeply making the dragon roar out with a gurgling sound.
-----On the other side of Sol, he sees Raven rush in leaping as high as he can onto the other fore claw. Forcing his entire body weight into his stab, the hunter practically buries one of his swords up to the hilt in the dragon's neck.
-----Seeing the great beast begin to waver, Sol quickly moves Thunder out of the way. The dragon's head begins to slump just as Rinda fires two more arrows. One missile sails high over the creature's head while the final one thuds into the dragon's jaw.
-----With that the dragon's body collapses while its head plummets toward the ground in front of it. After the sickening sound of its head striking the ground and the final convulsions leave its body, a sizzling viscous ichor begins oozing from its dead mouth. A nearby scrub plant begins dissolving as the ooze flows around it.
-----Garrison looks with an amazed look on his face at the entire length of the dead dragon. His eyes then alight on Sol still mounted on Thunder. The woodsman's mouth falls open and then widens into a smile. "You are either the bravest or the most foolish soul I have ever met," he tells the Gorian.
