-----The children all stop their playing and run toward the fence nearest the visitors. Some of them, especially the larger children, climb up on the fence to get a better look while the smaller of the number peeks through the spaces between the boards.
-----The oldest of the children is a boy probably a few years into his teens with dark brownish hair and deep brownish eyes. The next two oldest are girls, one with bright blond hair and the other with dark raven hair. The two smallest children are boys with straw colored hair with ears that seem to stick out from it. All the children wear the play clothes of peasant youths.
-----The oldest boy especially appears fascinated by the Dread Pirate's steed and he excitedly says, "Sir, can we ride your pony?"
-----The Dread Pirate chews on his lower lip, then shrugs and hops off Joren. Handing the reins to one of the children, he says, "Aye, ye can ride him about. Just be careful, he's been pretty flatulent lately. And don't take him too far. By the way, his name is Joren."
-----The Dread Pirate then saunters up to the farmhouse, looking for an adult to speak with.
-----Seth dismounts, and then tells Runik, "You better watch the mounts and the children. Don't let them steal the horses!" He then follows Dread.
-----The pony seems to surrender itself as the oldest boy takes the reins. The dwarf huffs as he stands about with arms folded watching the other children swarm around Joren patting his coal black hide.
-----As Seth and the Dread Pirate walk toward the house, one of the girls, the one with dark hair is suddenly behind them. "If you're looking for our parents, they're just inside the house. Knock on the door and then open it if they don't hear you," she says in a small remote voice. She then wanders off toward Joren, the gathering children and the watching dwarf.
-----As the two rogues approach the front door, all seems quiet from inside. As Seth raps on the door, the portal swings slowly open. There inside can be seen a cozy front room with two chairs facing a fireplace. The chairs are facing the mantle and it is obvious two people are sitting in them. One masculine arm is relaxed on one chair arm in view while from the other chair is seen a more delicate smaller feminine arm. The two people do not make any indication of the visitors entering behind them.
-----Seth looks at Dread and shakes his head and then calls out, "Hello there!"
-----The Dread Pirate peers into the room, then says glumly, "If they turn out to be zombies, I'm really going to be weirded out. That would be a hell of a thing though. A couple of zombies raising children. Maybe they're just raising them as food though. Sort of like livestock. If they are zombies, that is."
-----The Dread Pirate proceeds to rap loudly on the inside of the door, then shouts, "Hello!" The Dread Pirate's call arouses no response. With that the two rogues enter carefully, no other sound detected other than children playing outside.
-----The rustic boards under Seth's feet settle creaking slightly causing him and Gimplefwick to pause momentarily. No change occurs in the maddening silence that is this house and its occupants.
-----Just as Seth and the Dread Pirate make it across the room and into full view of the children's parents, they freeze.
-----What they see are two human bodies reclining in the chairs but their souls have long left this world. Nothing seems out of place other than the horrifying sight of plant parts extending out of the eye sockets and the mouths of the corpses.
-----Just then a frantic yell comes from outside. Runik is heard cursing.
-----Seth looks at Dread and then cautiously edges towards the door to see what the problem may be.
-----The Dread Pirate looks momentarily aghast at the plant life sticking out of the reclining bodies. He then says to Seth, "It be corn husks sticking out of 'em."
-----When he hears Runik scream, he yanks his cutlass out of the scabbard, kicks open a window and leaps out, figuring that the door has probably been trapped.
-----The Dread Pirate leaps from the window and lands gracefully upon the short grassy lawn. Seth, in the meantime, looks out the front door.
-----At first, nothing seems out of the ordinary. The children continue to pet and lead Joren around the area inside the fence. The sun continues to send its warmth down upon the land from the bright blue sky above. A gentle breeze continues to blow causing the corn plants outside the fence to rustle.
-----It is the corn plants that the Dread Pirate and Seth see Runik staring at. The dwarf stands near the small gate with his warhammer raised in his hands. Runik nervously looks at the large wall of corn stalks that now surround the entire fenced in farmhouse.
-----The Dread Pirate, somewhat sheepishly glances about, realizes that he still has his cutlass drawn against a bunch of children and a cornfield, then sheathes the weapon and turns to Runik, "Now what're ye out here screamin about? Ummm, actually on second thought, tell me what it was as we gather up the horses and get ready to ride the hell out of here. There's somethin in that house which is a bit odd, even by my standards." The Dread Pirate then carefully begins walking over to the horses, keeping a wary eye on the children as he does so.
