-----"Not now, priest," Romney says simmering under his breath, "Not all of us follow the . . . . way of your rager." The guard stares straight ahead, not meeting anyone's eyes but clearly showing his impatience with the turn of events.
-----As if to break the tension, Garrison suddenly says to his friends, "I wonder where they're going?"
-----Looking up, everyone can see Roderon leading Raven, Rinda and two more rangers across the room past where Lord Howrun sits. They enter a door on the opposite wall and Roderon shuts the door behind them.
-----"Ah, we're in elf country, maybe some religious thing with their god. They do something during the longest day of the month or something like that." Sarah says, not really sure if she remembers right. "Maybe something about full moons?" She shrugs. "Or maybe they're going off to hunt an assassin without us."
-----"No idea. But if he said nothing to us, then it's probably private business." Sol replies briefly before rounding on Lovan, "I'm not worried about him shooting arrows at me at all, Lovan. I worry because of what he said to me and of how far he is capable of going. I had him last night. I had him." Sol's fist clenches in frustration and anger.
-----Sarah covers Sol's fist with her own and gives him a sympathetic look. "Don't worry about it." She says. "You'll get him next time."
-----Sol's own hand relaxes and he ends up covering Sarah's with his other. It's a quick, firm movement, displaying just how much he appreciates the gesture at the moment.
-----"I will." He whispers.
-----Just then Raven is seen poking his head through the door from the back room. Pausing, he waves over Sol and Sarah to follow them into the back room.
-----Still gripping Sarah's hand firm, Sol nods to Raven and stands to obey the ranger's directions. Before he leaves the table though, he looks over his shoulder and says with a half grimace, half smile to the remainder, "Get yer fill here, today is likely t'be as long as th' last...lot."
-----After they enter the back room, Raven says to Sol. "I thought we should tell Roderon about the events of the last night. Roderon had concerns on who is the assassin's target. Sol, I thought you should tell Roderon of what lead us up to this point."
-----Sol nods from where he stands right next to Sarah and answers, "A good idea, truly, but I did that last night. I ran int' good Roderun here on th' way t'th' stables and told him what I knew."
-----"Or at least I think I did...did you have any more questions Roderun? As far as I know, I'm now th' main target, though he's obviously willing t'kill anyone t'get what he's after." Sol shakes his head in disgust before pulling out the blue gem given to him by Frederick and rolling the stone over and over in his hand.
-----Raven looks surprised by Sol's comment, "You already spoke with Roderun?"
-----Raven turns to Roderun, "Sorry to have taken up your time, for it looks like you know as much as I do about this unpleasant business."
-----Roderon smiles and answers, "Think nothing of it. Now is the time to be on our guard."
-----Rinda points to the rain through the window. Nodding, she says, "Lord Howrun was right. It seems the rain is letting up a bit."
-----As everyone looks they can see the grayish cast to the sky remains but now the rain is coming down at a lighter rate.
-----The dark skinned woman with Roderon watches Sol as he rolls the blue gem in his hands. Catching a quick glance at the object, the woman asks curiously, "What is that you hold?"
-----"A gem of some sort." Sol replies as he regards the woman politely, "Th' assassin is definitely after this." The warrior then holds it out for the woman to take and inspect if she so wishes.
-----The woman takes a deep breath as she focuses on the gem stone. She does not reach for it; seemingly not interested in taking it from the young warrior.
-----In a heavy tone she appears to ponder aloud, "A boon of some sort; maybe a ward against spiders."
-----Roderon frowns as if perhaps the woman's words are lost on him. Finally, he says, "As we ride this morn, our woodsmen and bowmen can spread out amongst the trees. Whether we meet assassins or humanoids, our flanks and backs will be covered."
-----Sol nods to the woman though he looks a little confused at the divination. Carefully he then deposits the gem back into his pocket and then turns to Roderun, asking, "We leave as soon as breakfast is over?"
-----"Aye, that we do," Roderon says with a small smile. With that he ushers everyone back into the main room.
-----The breakfasting continues over low conversation as most of the guards and hunters concentrate on finishing their meal. Lord Howrun eats most heartily; occasionally ordering more bread for his gravy.
