-----Raven’s wolf continues to growl. The animal turns, like its master eyeing the dark corners all around them.
-----The Dread Pirate gazes blankly at his wounded arm, "Arrr, I've been bitten by a figment of me imagination." After Sarah is finished tending to his arm, Gimplefwick immediately begins rummaging through his pack, muttering all the while, "...bit me and disappear will ye...." He eventually emerges with what appears to be a ceramic container. Waiting for the odd spiders to appear again, the Dread Pirate readies himself to hurl the container at the feet of the arachnoids.
-----Sarah gulps and looks around, very worried about where the spiders will come from next. "All right, um, I got an idea. Form a circle, warriors on the outside, mages on the inside. With everyone looking one way we'll be able to hit them no matter where they show up."
-----Sarah gets into position and watches intently for the spiders.
-----Sol slides to position in front of Sarah, saying, "We'll give it a go. Just watch yer heads, an' call when ye see one." He keeps a sharp watch on his area.
-----Raven pulls Rinda behind him. The ranger is tense muttering lowly as the wolf continues to growl, "I hear you, boy," he tells the wolf with his teeth clenched, "We got a good piece of him last time. Let’s see how much more we can slice out of him next."
-----Suddenly, Seth gets Sarah’s attention. "There!" he simply says, pointing near the door through which they all entered. Sarah catches a glint of two slender legs moving in the flickering shadows. With scarcely a breath wasted, Sarah completes an incantation and two small golden bolts of magic erupt from her index finger. They strike the creeping creature there drawing a hissing commotion.
-----As if chasing the magic missiles, Sol and Raven rush forward drawing a curse from the Dread Pirate. Before Gimplefwick can throw his container, Sol takes a mighty swing with his sword. In the excitement, the young warrior’s blade misses the creature. Recovering quickly, Sol and Raven thrust their blades forth at the same time. The weapons find their mark and the others in the center can see the monster spread forth its front legs in a convulsion of pain. As if to punctuate his anger, Raven takes his left blade and jams it downward in an arc, slicing into the spider thing’s forehead. With a squeal, the monster collapses and its legs spread outward from its body, now dead.
-----Sol turns to Raven and smiles. "There ye go...simple."
-----Raven immediately spins in a rage glaring about the room. "There’s another one, get ready," he growls. The ranger then raises his voice, bringing his blades up in front of him. "All right, you bastard," he shouts, "Come on, I know you’re here, I can smell your stench!"
-----Sol yanks his blade free of the spider creature, and rushes in order to once again place himself in front of Sarah and Seth.
-----Seth stares in horror as the warriors leave him undefended. His horror turns to relief by small grades as the first spider is killed and Sol returns to his position. Seth not knowing any really useful spells at this time readies his sling for the return of the next spider.
-----This time, Sarah detects some slow movement on one of the sidewalls above eye level. She pats the Dread Pirate on the shoulder and points it out to him.
-----Gimplefwick takes careful aim and throws his container up where a large insect leg dimly reflects the light from the shadows. The jar shatters just in front of the spider’s leg. For an instant, the thing seems to freeze and then it tries to move again. Suddenly it struggles as one of its forelegs appears to be pinned to the wall. A fierce shriek comes from the creature.
-----With that, Seth winds up his sling and lets go with a bullet. The missile strikes the monster on its back with a sickening thud. The monster hisses out in anger and pain.
-----Raven quickly sheathes his sword and draws forth his bow as Kazel notches an arrow in her own short bow. Within moments, Raven and Kazel pepper the creature with arrows and the monster loses its grip on the wall with all of its legs save one. The spider-thing’s body hangs from the gluey spot on the wall, its evil life finished.
-----Sol relaxes slightly and quips, "There ye go...that was simple enough." He turns to look in the room with the half elf's body, remarking, "Perhaps we should just burn the web's down."
-----"I'm all for that," Sarah says, darkly, producing flint and steel from her pouch and handing it to Sol.
-----Sol waves the flint and steel off, saying, "No need fer that. We have two torches handy; they'll more'n suffice."
