-----"Actually, I was just thinking of using the mirror to peer around corners and windows." Kazel looks intrigued at Gimplefwick's implications. "Anyway, I thought all we were s'pose to do was to look, not touch. If Seth can't find anything, let's go in separately and see what we can overhear in the bar, then find a chance to sneak up to the second floor when we can."
-----Gimplefwick nods at Kazel, "Aye, I don't much care fer the idea of chargin gloriously to our deaths. Anyway, my idea is based upon Seth's greasy spell. If I could get the assassins to chase me, say bribe the innkeeper to go up to their room and tell them that there is an odd little halfling asking questions about them, then they will probably come after me, if for no other reason than to keep me quiet about their hideout. Anyways, they chase me down a dark alley, in which you two are discreetly hidden. Before I get there, Seth casts his greasy spell across the alleyway, leaving a narrow path on the right hand side fer me to run across. Now, here comes the nasty part. Before casting the spell or my getting chased by the assassins, we coat the alleyway where the grease spell is going to be cast with lamp oil. When the assassins run across and start slipping and can't get out of the greasy area, we light the oil that they are covered in and torch the scurvy landlubbers. We then stand back and use our slings to hit anybody that looks like they might get out. Whaddya think?"
-----"I just knew it would've involved fire." Kazel smiles. "But let's see what we can learn first unless it comes to a fight again. Burning might not give us any information." She then looks up from the shadows to check up on Seth's progress or any movement in the room he went into.
-----Seth has a good look at the room looking to see if he can spot any personal belongings, he then climbs back down to tell the others. "That room looks like a common room. I could not see anything to say anyone was staying there. We could use that room to scout out from along the second floor, or did you two make other plans while I was gone?"
-----The Dread Pirate grins happily, "Aye, the best plans do seem to involve fire, bloodshed, mayhem, and pirates running amok through the city streets. At least my favorite plans involve those things."
-----Gimplefwick peers about the darkened streets, "Maybe if'n ye want to go check out the interior of the inn, I'll stay out here and watch the street. I might be too noticeable if'n I were to go inside. Just yell if ye want back up."
-----Kazel nods and starts circling back to enter the entrance of the inn. Seth stands by the Dread Pirate as they watch her go. Seth’s crow comes down to land on its master’s shoulder once again, giving up its perch on the roof of the inn.
-----Gimplefwick, hugging the shadows, moves closer to the inn, in case Kazel calls out for help. He moves to a position where his back is to a wall and he can see the various avenues of approach.
-----Seth watches Gimplefwick move his stealthy moves. He emulates him and slides on over to the wall and tries to look inconspicuous as he also keeps a look out. He whispers out of the corner of his mouth, "Dread Pirate, do you think the birds sitting on our shoulder might make people look twice?"
-----Along the south side of the inn, are three windows at the lower level. As Seth and Gimplefwick wait, they can see through the windows that the first floor of the inn is taken up by one huge tavern room. Long tables are situated by the walls and oil lamps dimly illuminate the place. Less than a dozen customers sit at different tables eating and drinking. Seth looks through the windows trying to locate Kazel in the room.
-----Gimplefwick listlessly picks at his belly button with his index finger. He then carefully scrutinizes the results and mutters to Seth, "Say, is a belly button supposed to collect this much filth? Does this look normal to you?" In the meantime, he carefully listens for any disturbing noises emanating from the inn.
-----Seth carefully scrutinizes the fluff deposited in Gimplefwick's belly button. "I do not have my book with me to compare your allotment of fluff with that within the book however, if I may carefully place your 'fluff' in my spare pouch, I can measure it when we get back to the guild." Seth opens up a pouch on his belt and nods for Gimplefick to drop it in.
-----"At best I can find a spell that uses halfling stomach fluff as an ingredient. At worst it may come in handy mixed with pepper and left around for nervous guard dogs to play with, while we sneak around them."
-----Seth continues to look stealthy while searching for a glimpse of Kazel. He sees her standing just inside the doorway and points her out to the Dread Pirate. Kazel then starts moving toward the bar at the other end of the room looking from side to side at the patrons. She pauses as the barkeep turns toward a fireplace in one corner. The two thieves then see Kazel slip quickly up a stairway in the opposite corner. A few moments later, a strong-looking woman with blond hair and wearing studded leather descends the stairs.
