-----After shrugging his shoulders and carefully depositing his belly button lint in Seth's belt pouch, Gimplefwick peers into the inn. Seeing Kazel head up the stairs, he gets a worried look on his face, "Arrr, what do ye think we should do? I suppose it couldn't hurt if we were to go inside and knock back a few casks of rum. But we might be stickin out like a sore thumb, what with that bleedin crow on yer shoulder and all. I think I can probably blend in pretty well, maybe I'd best go inside and keep an eye on things."
-----With that, the Dread Pirate emerges from the shadows and makes for the front door of the inn. Seth continues to wait outside, watching in through the window.
-----Gimplefwick pushes open the door and steps inside. As he walks forward, he passes a young man sitting alone at a table by the door. An angry scowl is on his face as he drinks from his ale mug. On the other side of Gimplefwick at another table, a well-groomed and dressed man sits while a woman dressed in a loose blouse and skirt teases and flirts with him. Behind the well-dressed man stands a large bald-headed man with his massive arms folded. At the large man’s side is a strangely curved sword.
-----At the next table, a middle-aged couple quietly eats their evening meal. An odd-looking woodsman sits across the aisle from them sipping a glass of wine. Finally at the last table beside the bar, a man wearing the surcoat of the town watch sits up properly and cuts his meat apart on his plate.
-----The barkeep standing primly behind the bar is a short roly-poly man with a beard and short hair. Also standing at the bar is the blond-haired woman wearing the studded leather.
-----Suddenly as Gimplefwick looks toward the strong-looking woman, she steps away from the bar with her sword drawn. Staring fiercely at the Dread Pirate, she growls out, "Outside, fat boy!"
-----The Dread Pirate scowls at the appellation 'fat boy'. "Arrr, me mother always told me I was just big boned." Gimplefwick then skips nimbly backward and pokes at his belly with one finger, "Besides, I be workin on it."
-----Gimplefwick then looks appealingly to the town watchman, "Avast there, matey. Are ye just goin to sit there while this she demon tries to slice me up? What has this town come to when some armored wench can attack a peaceable halfling when all he does is walk into an inn. A sad day indeed."
-----The town watchman, looking at the scene before him in a slight state of shock, blinks. "Quite right!" he answers getting up. "Now see here . . . ," the watchman begins as he rises toward Gimplefwick’s assailant, his curly brown hair falling about his shoulders.
-----Suddenly the woman’s right fist flashes out hitting him square in the forehead. The watchman slumps to the ground taking the bench he sat on tumbling to the tavern floor with him. He lies motionless there.
-----The Dread Pirate then draws his new short sword and starts backing towards the door. The woman turns back toward Gimplefwick, her eyes frighteningly dark and narrowed. She begins stalking menacingly toward the halfling. Gimplefwick hurls himself outside through the front door with the woman following.
-----Outside, the Dread Pirate finds himself alone with Seth no where in sight. Gimplefwick scowls into the night when he sees that Seth has absented himself. He then scampers backward into the darkness and runs around the corner of the inn just as the woman’s form bursts through the door. In the shadowed area of the street, he reaches into his belt pouch and scatters a handful of caltrops in front of him. Hoping that he had enough of a head start that the woman didn't see exactly what he did in the darkness, he then turns and runs for the alleyway behind the inn.
-----The sound of her boots trudging in the dirt of the street is heard as Gimplefwick quickly sheathes his sword. Suddenly the woman’s voice is heard cursing as she obviously has stepped on one of the small obstacles. The Dread Pirate draws his rope and grapnel and catches it on the rooftop of the inn. He then scurries up the rope as quickly as he can. Hauling the rope up after him, he moves to the edge of the roof over the street. Peering over the edge, he sees the strong-looking woman limping in the direction of the alley where he was.
-----Just as Gimplefwick sees the woman begin to enter the alley, he backs up from the edge of the roof. Just then, a tapping sound brings his attention back to the roof’s edge. Seth’s crow stands there, lightly pecking and then the bird appears to look over the edge at something on the street below. Carefully the Dread Pirate steps forward and looks over the edge again. There on the darkened street below, Gimplefwick sees Kazel looking up at him.
-----Quickly looking about, Gimplefwick reattaches his grapnel and lowers the rope to Kazel. He then motions frantically for her to climb up, trying to impress upon her the precariousness of her present location.
-----Kazel takes the hint and grabs the rope, taking the end of the rope with her and tucking it into her belt as she climbs.
