-----Then comes an older voice replying, "Good, in two days we will spread them through the market place once again!"
-----Kazel decides that she had heard enough, and so quickly retreats from the building and starts back towards the inn. On the way back, she keeps an eye out for the muscular woman and any guards or knights rushing to the scene. She quickly crosses the fences and as she approaches the inn on its north side, she can see there is some kind of commotion on the street in front of it. Guards seem to be calling to one another. The half-elven girl quickly makes for the alley behind the inn. She then peeks around the corner and seeing no one on the south side of the inn, moves out into the street.
-----Just as Kazel rounds the corner out of the alley, she sees a small form fall from about where the window was that the thieves had crawled into earlier. With a solid thud, the form hits the ground in front of her. In her surprise and shock, Kazel sees it is Gimplefwick. The halfling pirate is bloodied nearly from head to foot and deep claw marks cover the side of his face. The Dread Pirate lies there in the wet, muddy street alive, but badly hurt! Shouts and excitement are heard from the activity at the front of the inn around the corner.
-----Gimplefwick lays groggily in the mud and squelches noisily. He then moans pitifully and glances at Kazel, "Arrrgghhh...they got me...I'm a goner...you'll have to carry me back to the guild for a decent funeral."
-----Kazel looks up sharply at the window, then ducks back behind the corner at once and quickly covers her face again with the dark cloth and the hood of her cloak. Taking a deep breath, she then comes sprinting out of the alley like a wild cat. She can hear the guards still around the corner of the building and luckily no one comes around the corner to see them.
-----Without stopping, she grabs Gimplefwick up under her arm and makes off down the street clinging to the shadows on her right. She moves toward the end of the block and just before she reaches the end, she pulls the hurt halfling pirate into a small alley behind a butcher’s shop. Peering out behind them, she looks back toward the inn and sees no one following them. In fact, the street remains deserted for the most part with the heavy rain that falls. A lot of activity seems to be going on at the inn and Kazel can now see lights on in most of the rooms.
-----Gimplefwick, extremely jostled by the sprint to the alleyway, muffles a groan, "Shiver me timbers, lass. I'm not a sack of oats yer haulin to the market. I'm a severely wounded halfling. I could lose me lunch at any moment. If I had any lunch that is, what with bein up on that scurvy rooftop all day. I haven’t had any dinner either. What a miserable day. Carved into bits, fell off a building, and starving to boot. Maybe they'll have some food at the guild. Quickly now, let's get to the guild, and less jostling please." Oddly enough, despite his blood-soaked appearance, the Dread Pirate doesn't sound as though he is on death's door.
-----Kazel turns from looking at the inn at Gimplefwick's voice. She walks over and leans closer, examining Gimplefwick's face as if checking on a child. "Oh, quit complaining then," she finally says after a moment. She goes towards the back of the building they are hiding behind, and unlocks the back door with a key she produces from her pocket. "C'mon in now. We're not going through the gates with you looking like raw steak, anyway." Grabbing the Dread Pirate by the arm, she then pulls him inside and quickly locks the door behind her.
-----As Kazel tries to get the Dread Pirate settled in the dark building, she hears a small rapping in the front room. Peering into the front part of the shop, she sees Seth’s crow lightly pecking at one of the windows from the outside. She then sees Seth suddenly approach and look into the darkened shop.
-----Kazel goes over to the front of the shop and glances around the street outside. She then quickly lets Seth in. The crow also flies in lighting on a counter. It shakes its feathers ridding itself of rainwater. "So... what did Wain say?" Kazel asks as she closes the door and closes the shades over the windows.
-----Gimplefwick looks on disinterestedly as Seth enters the darkened shop, "Aye, what did that old landlubber have to say?"
-----Seth comes into the room and looks at the Dread Pirate all covered in blood. "No one was at the Guild, so I went to find Books."
-----He now puts down the plain ring. "This may be a ring for use in controlling animals. Books has not been able to discern whether it has a command word." Next he lays down a scroll in a scroll case. "This scroll is for protection against Magic." At last he lays down a potion, "This potion will make whoever drinks it smaller."
-----He again looks hard at Gimplefwick’s wounds and notices claw marks. He begins to frown as he thinks. "Books has gone to the guild to await whoever may arrive there and tell them of our news. What manner of animal made these marks on your body, Dread Pirate?"
