-----Gimplefwick says, "Aye, send the boy along with us. At worst we can put him to work making camp fer us and taking care of the horses in the evenings. As long as he isn't too mouthy. I've killed plenty of little boys in my day and one more wouldn't be weighin' any more heavily upon me conscience."
-----Gimplefwick sneers and tries to look fierce after stating his claim. Well, as fierce as a halfling can look anyway.
-----"Have a care, now friend," Calron says to Gimplefwick, "you will be responsible fer the goods, the wagon, the horses and the boy. Remember the main thing you’re all tryin’ to do is to take these goods out of the town, exchangin’ ‘em fer their worth and comin’ back into town without raisin’ eyebrows. Too many things pointin’ at you can point at others too. Them others won’t appreciate the attention neither. I’m guessin’ this is the first job Wain’s havin’ ya do?"
-----Seth smiles at the Dread Pirate, he no longer is surprised by anything he says, although sometimes he still gets embarrassed by some of the coarse sailor language he uses.
-----"That’s right, Calron, this is our first employment by the esteemed Wain. We hope it becomes a permanent relationship. In fact there may be some things we could do for you."
-----Gimplefwick glares at the old man, "Ye old, scurvy landlubber. I think ye should just mind yer own business about Wain and what he wants. That goes fer me as well. Sometimes old age doesn't mean wisdom, it means senility. Yer job is to prepare the wagon and watch over the warehouse, not to be givin' advice to those that yer workin’ fer. Just make sure that boy knows how to drive the wagon and he'll be fine. I do just fine at passing unnoticed. When I want yer advice, I'll yank on yer wizened old top knot."
-----Gimplefwick puffs up his hairy little chest, quite proud of himself at berating an old man.
-----Calron runs his hand over his face, "Oh boy," he mutters slowly, "If I had a copper fer every time I been threatened tonight . . ."
-----By that time, another wagon pulls up to the doors and once again someone calls from the outside for Calron. "This looks like your wagon," he says scooting off the box he sat on.
-----The drivers back the wagon into the middle of the warehouse and Calron bids them to unhitch the horses and take them back to the stables. Before they leave with the two beasts, Calron tells one, "I need ya to fetch a long crate box over there by the wall. It’s marked with an X."
-----The driver does as he’s told and brings over a box, which measures almost four feet in length. He sets it in the bed of the wagon and the thieves can see an X marked on it with black paint. After the two drivers leave, Calron asks the three thieves to watch how this particular box will be stowed.
-----Calron pulls on a hidden latch in the boarding of the bed of the wagon and a section, much like a trapdoor, pulls up. With the help of Seth and Kazel, he puts the box down into the concealed compartment. He then closes the ‘trapdoor’ over it.
-----Calron looks up at the trio. "Well, that’s all there is to it. When those men get back, I’ll have ‘em help me load the ‘decoy’ goods here in the bed. If you’ve got nothin’ else ya need, I’ll see ya here at first light. Try to be on time."
-----Gimplefwick snorts and looks at Calron, "I'll just be stayin’ here and keepin’ an eye on our merchandise. I don't think yer security is too good here and I don't want anything to happen to our wagon and goods."
-----Gimplefwick wanders over to the wagon to open the secret hatch and inspect the goods that they'd be transporting. Looking at the other two thieves, Gimplefwick asks, "That is unless ye have some plans fer tonight. I think it'd be best if we got a full night’s sleep though, before we head out."
-----"Spot on Dread Pirate, I need to collect something from Brad, do you want me to bring back some food from his shop? Then I shall keep you company. Would you like me to bring back something Kazel or do you have your own plans?" Seth awaits their answer before heading back to Brad’s shop.
-----Gimplefwick replies to Seth's query, "No, thank ye kindly anywise, Seth. I'll be just fine here until ye return." Gimplefwick settles back on the wagon, to inspect the goods and take a quick inventory.
-----Kazel peers into the trunk of trinkets for a moment, then asks Calron in a kinder tone than he's been receiving lately. "What is the worth of these goods? How would you, Wain, or anyone know the amount they should fetch?"
-----Calron smiles at Kazel and says, "We usually let the man in Lut determine the worth. He’s always run a fair game. Since the stuff’s been swiped, a lot of ones I’ve known in the past been glad to get what they can."
-----While she's in the wagon with Gimplefwick, she whispers to him. "You're keeping an eye on that box of 'spice', right?"
-----Hopping off the wagon, Kazel then turns to Seth. "I need to get some things for the trip, but I'll go with you to the tavern first," she says as she casually flicks her apple core into the shadows behind her back. "Shall we go?"
-----Seth bows to Kazel, "After you."
