-----In the meantime, Krord and Brandel Warnox, the other human guard, help the dwarf with the final rigging of the barn doors.
-----With those traps set, the light has changed outside. The moon hangs low in the western sky and the first pale purplish twilight of dawn begins to filter through the edges of the tarps covering the high windows.
-----Realizing that dawn is approaching, Brandel turns to Seth and says, "The sun will rise soon. Do you think your wizard friends are still out there?"
-----Seth looks at Kazel and the Dread Pirate and states, "My guess is they do not like the sun, but correct me if I am wrong."
-----The Dread Pirate mumbles in response, "Aye, I'm sure at least one of 'em is out there, keepin’ an eye on us. I'm surprised they didn't try to attack during the night though. We'll probably be safe during the daylight hours, I'd be guessin."
-----The Dread Pirate staggers over to the cheese vats, where he disrobes and attempts to further clean the muck off of his clothing, using some water from his wineskin.
-----All is quiet when suddenly, a crashing is heard as the glass in one of the high windows explodes. Everyone jumps as pieces of glass rain down scattering as it hits the floor. The spike trap that the Dread Pirate set on the window springs and a cry of surprise and pain is heard.
-----Then a stranger occurrence happens. The side door next to Marast slowly opens. What is revealed on the outside is not the streets of Oakwood in the predawn light but a thick wall of billowing vapors like fog. The elf remains tense expecting something or someone to move through the opened door, but everything without remains quiet. Marast very slowly begins to edge in front of the door looking out into the fog.
-----Seth, looking at the billowing wall, decides to make it a greasy fog wall. He grips some pork fat and releases a stream of greasy magic at the floor near the opened door.
-----The Dread Pirate chuckles at the cry of pain from the window and gets his sling out. He yells at Marast, "Get away from there and close that door. Ye don't know what’s out there. Or might already be in here. Bar the door, too."
-----But the unfortunate elf is unaware that he is already standing at the edge of Seth’s greasy floor. As he nimbly turns, Marast slips and falls, his body spread out helplessly struggling to gain a foothold.
-----Gimplefwick quickly slings a bullet through the opening into the fog, hoping to hit whatever might be lurking, visible or otherwise. The bullet flies through the air and out the door vanishing within the vapors.
-----Suddenly the entire proceeding is interrupted by one of the large barn doors falling out into the street. Just as the large portal begins to fall, a cry of surprise is heard followed by a healthy boom as it hits the ground. From this position, it looks odd as the view of the street beyond is unobstructed by any fog that obscures the way of the small door. The door lies out in the thoroughfare not completely flat as someone is caught under it. The top half of a figure is seen struggling trying to crawl out from underneath it.
-----As if that was not enough, a commotion is heard by the door not far from the angry struggling greased elf. A thud is heard as if someone had fallen against a wall. Suddenly in the greased area, there appears out of thin air, a man’s form dressed in dark clothes and a hooded dark cloak. Like Marast, he has fallen and struggles in the enspelled area. His features are very hard to see under his hood.
-----Seth begins slinging bullets at the fallen figure that has slipped over. The first bullet goes wide missing the Dark one and fortunately Marast.
-----Seth indicates to the dwarf, that it would be a good idea to hit the person under the door with his hammer.
-----Runik momentarily stunned by the quick proceedings, shakes to clear his head and smiles broadly at Seth’s suggestion. "Aye!" he yells happily charging to the fallen door.
-----The Dread Pirate, appearing nearly manic with glee that his traps are taking some effect, yells out, "Arrr, big fighter, go jump up and down on that door and squish that wizard good!"
-----Krord glances at the Dread Pirate pointing his finger at his own chest with a questioning look on his face. He then looks at Brandel who smiles in return and draws his sword. Pointing at the struggling form under the door, Brandel nods his head. With an almost roaring war whoop, Krord runs like a runaway battering ram toward the quarry with Brandel running up behind.
-----Whooping with joy, the Dread Pirate begins slinging bullets at the newly appeared wizard in the greasy fog. As he slings, he moves closer to the side door, until he get close enough to fling one end of the sling to Marast and pull him out. Gimplefwick’s bullet hits the crawling wizard in the back of one leg drawing an angry grunt. As the Dread Pirate helps Marast out of the slinky greased area, the wizard crawls out of the area across from them.
