-----With a gritting of teeth, Krondor brings his sword around stabbing Sol in his right leg.
-----Suddenly, Raven leaps. In mid air, Raven swings his left sword arm drawing Krondor's attention. The traitor follows the motion with his eyes but realizes the ruse at the last moment, too late. Raven's right sword plunges into the villain's neck and the hunter lands on his chest taking him down.
-----Blood gushes from Krondor's throat. He looks up at the hunter and sneers. As the blood fills his air passages, Krondor's last words are, "You won't be able to stop the w. . ." With that, the evil one's face goes blank and his body limp.
-----Romney's opponent drops for his sword and the noble guard stabs his weapon into the man's arm. Bleeding, the man-at-arm still grabs his sword and swings at Romney, missing him.
-----Suddenly, someone taps the last of the enemy on the shoulder and the man spins. Garrison's fist smacks into the man's jaw, sending him unconscious to the ground. Romney nods his thanks.
-----"I caught up with one of them that ran," the woodsman quickly reports, "two more are still running. I would have chased them down but I heard that roar. Don't tell me there is another drag-". At that moment, another loud horrific roar goes up from the far trees.
-----Garrison suddenly stops and points at the man on the horse. "That looks like Lord Howrun of Silvergard!"
-----"If it is," Romney says as he rushes to try to tend to the burning trees and grass, "I would like to know why he is here and not attending the King in Goldren with the other Lords of Altoria!"
-----At that moment, a huge draconic head rises over the trees just yards away. Behind the line of trees across the way, the monster stands up; its head towering perhaps forty feet high in the air. Its emerald scales almost match the surrounding leaves and its spiked ridges and hornlets are accented against the darkening skies.
-----The dragon's yellowish eyes narrow at the line of elven archers. Menacingly, it snorts and throws its head back spreading its magnificent, but frightful wings. As the dragon fills the air with its roar once again, the elven archers begin to fire. The huge man on the horse also fires his bow.
-----"Well fought. The bastard's done." Sol comments through his teeth. Time seems to slow as he gives the party a knowing look, a completely odd mixture of resignation and exhilaration. The warrior then swivels on his heel and moves at a dead run towards the dragon, seemingly ignorant of his newly received wound.
-----Raven takes a moment to crouch down to make sure Krondor is dead. Raven then looks over and seems to notice the dragon for the first time. Raven puts away one of his short swords and grabs Krondor's blade. Raven mutters, "I think I'll need a bigger sword for this green bastard." Raven then runs towards the dragon making sure not to attack the dragon on the same side that Sol is. Raven does not want to give the dragon the chance to gas them both.
-----As the fighters begin rushing in, Rinda begins the rites to calling on the Great Hunter. Lovan, with an almost euphoric expression on his face, gazes skyward at the dark churning clouds. He once again raises his warhammer toward the skies and begins loudly praising the Rager.
-----Romney stands nearby the storm priest with his mouth agape staring at the towering green dragon. "By Holy Joren!" the noble guard repeats.
-----The line of elven archers release their arrows and suddenly the air seems filled with the sight of dozens of them streaking aloft. The sound of their flight almost resembles singing as they fly toward the huge monster. Practically all of the arrows bounce off the thick scales of the dragon though one becomes barely lodged under one extended claw. The small missile is crushed as the monster flexes its claw.
-----Suddenly, the large man on horseback commanding the elven troops shoots twice. His arrows strike the dragon in one of the arms and one of the shoulders. This seems to do little more than annoy the beast.
-----By this time, Sol stands by one of the dragon's hind claws. From across the way, he glimpses other people surrounding the monster trying to strike or shoot at it. Immediately the Gorian lays his weight into his swing, but the Lathanian blade misses as the monster turns.
-----Raven runs up to the other side of the dragon and slices at one foot with the sword taken from Krondor. The blade slams into the scales there but fails to break through to wound the monster. Quickly Raven drives his short sword high and it pierces the dragon's hide in one leg muscle. As dark blood begins to flow, the dragon roars in anger.
-----Sol lands his sword against the other leg muscle but again, his attack fails to draw blood.
-----At the same time, Raven swings in with the long sword. On this attempt, the blade cuts deeply into the monster's foot.
-----As the monster crouches down onto all fours, Garrison rushes up in front of it, but misses the beast with his battleaxe.
