-----The baldpated man stops and mutters, "Strange, Frederik went out a'leavin' 'is door open." The tone of his voice reveals a bit of uncertainty.
-----As everyone looks, they can see the door to the small home ajar. No light issues from the dwelling.
-----Sarah glances around, the fog making her nervous. "You guys stay back for a second, there could be something dangerous inside." She says to the people leading the group and Mirian. To Romney and Garrison she says, "Stay with them while we look inside."
-----Sol nods in agreement with Sarah and says quietly, "No one leaves their door open in this weather unless under duress...or if they weren't th' last visitors. Raven an' I should enter first wi' Sarah an' Rinda as backup. Sarah, if ye could pick out a source o' light wi' yer eyesight, it'd be appreciated. Lovan, circle around th' back o' th' place an' keep watch there. Th' rest o' ye keep watch here."
-----Sol then proceeds to move into the building, slowly and with care. Unusual for the warrior perhaps, though it seems to be so that he can listen out for unexpected surprises as opposed to any real sense of caution.
-----Raven nods and then draws his swords. Raven quickly enters the home right behind Sol.
-----Lovan enthusiastically pulls forth his warhammer and charges around the back of the house.
-----As Sol and Raven enter the small home, they can catch glimpses of items from the torch light that leaks in from the outside. However, things certainly seem amiss here. The two heroes step on pieces of wood broken off from the furniture that it once made up. In the very dim light, it appears as if things have been thrown about.
-----"I get th' feeling that someone has been looking fer something. An' I believe I know what." Sol doesn't divulge his theory any further however as he busies himself looking for a candle or lantern that Frederik may have kept around the house.
-----Raven keeps a look out while Sol searches the room.
-----Sarah picks up an oil lamp and lights it quickly. "Looking for this, my dear?" She asks Sol, holding the light up so that everyone can look around better. She tries to keep a happy tone in her voice, but the worry she's feeling betrays her. "Who could be doing this?" She wonders.
-----The light from the lantern reveals the mess left behind as if the man's possessions have been attacked and not just his life. Tables and chairs have been broken, tools have been thrown about, and the walls are stained with food items that have been tossed about. Here in this front room a brick fireplace dominates and some of its bricks have been broken by a sledgehammer that lies to one side. A door leads into what appears to be a bedroom and across from it are shelves in sort of a pantry.
-----"Hey," Rinda yells out to the men with the body, "did this man Frederik have a family?"
-----"No, no family," the reply comes from one of the men.
-----Raven walks over to fireplace and looks at the damage. Raven puts away his weapons and says, "Okay Sol, what do you think someone wanted bad enough to kill a man and rip a house apart?" Raven looks over at some of the dead man's woodwork, "Damn shame..."
-----Raven starts to look for any tracks that might have been left in the foodstuff left on the floor and walls.
-----Sol looks up at Raven and reaches into a belt pouch and grimly pulls out a brilliant dark blue gemstone. He frowns as he looks down to regard the stone and comments, "When Romney an' I were on th' way t'th' local weaponsmith earlier today, this Frederik almost collided int' me because he was running from something. He had a nasty bruise under his eye, and when I inquired, he answered rather strangely."
-----The Gorian continues his telling, whilst at the same time looking around the wrecked home, "He said there was no time an' fer me t'ferget I saw him. He then said he'd find me later tonight, which is when he left th' stone in my hand. With th' attack on Mirian I fergot all about it, added wi' th' fact that he said he'd find me. Now th' poor bastard's dead; killed in his own village."
-----"Surely it can't be over a bloody rock?" Sol asks rhetorically. He then starts moving into the bedroom, beckoning for Sarah to follow, "Let's search this place thoroughly, an' look fer anything unusual. We'll take a look at th' bedroom."
-----Raven says while looking down at something on the floor, "One man's junk is another's treasure." Raven nods, "I thought so..." Raven looks at Sol, "The same man that shot at Mirian ransacked this place." Raven rubs his chin, "Mirian must have been the target."
-----Raven gives a puzzled look to Sol, "Did you show the rock to Sarah? It might be magic or something."
-----As he heads into the bedroom, Sol answers Raven, "No, as said before I put Frederik's meeting out of mind after th' attack on' Mirian."
-----"Sarah, are ye able t'check this stone fer magic now or do ye need time?" Sol asks the magi politely as he searches the bedroom.
